Playhouse Disney...What are you missing???

you know... I was thinking the same as all of u the other night when watching "sprout" with my daughter in the middle of the night... "gee I wish there was a 24x7 playhouse disney channel" and then I thought... but how would they do that with only like 10 shows.... put older "cancelled" ones on in the rotation... do new episodes in the am timeframe like they do now and spend the rest of the day rotating the newer shows and mixing around with some of the oldies but goodies... PBJ, Rollie, Out of the box... those were some great shows...
I AGREE!!!!!
Oh I would just love if they did this!!!

It makes you wonder what all the shows today will be replaced with! These days (at least as of last Nov, 2 mos ago), the Disney Playhouse was sort of out of date. They had Bear/Big Blue House, Pooh, Stanley (or was it Charlie and Lola), and JoJo's Circus. I think only 2 or maybe even only 1 of those are still on the air.... We're still waiting for the new Pooh show. It was talked about late last summer, and now we're hearing late spring, but who knows...

I do wonder what happened to the old shows...like why did the go off the air? DS was just a tiny baby but he did watch roly poly olie...I think it was just bright and colorful images that kept his interest, just curious what happens to these shows though...and what happened to make them be dropped (?)

I miss Out of the Box!!!

I lukily had banned Olie from our house just before it was taken off the air...

Honestly, my girls were never fans of this show, but may I ask why you banned it? It's none of my business, of course, and don't answer if you don't want to. I'm certainly not trying to start anything. I'm just curious.

As a mother of an 8 yo DD and 2yo DS, I really see a difference in preschool programming in 6 years. DD had less shows to choose from. Now there is Disney, Nick Jr, Noggin and other channels have their own morning kids shows as well. Also programming is pretty much 24/7. I have really tried to limit how many shows DS watches, as there are so many. His favorites are Little Einsteins and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. DD loved Blues Clues, Dora, Sesame street, Barney and Out of the box growing up. She would usually watch 1 or 2 shows for a while, get tired of them and then pick a different ones to "follow".

I am sad to see some of the older ones like Bear in the big blue house and Out of the box go. My least favorite of the current shows is Doodlebops, they could go any time, although DS has been interested in the show probably because of the bright colors. DH's favorite show on Disney is Choo choo soul, I think it's Genevieve (sp?) and the way she bounces on the "Jump jump" song :rotfl:

It is totally an ok question!

My kid loved Olie... he was only a year old when he started watching it. We limit TV in our house so 2 half hour shows without commercials (love TIVO) a day for good behavior. I picked the show Between the Lions and my husband picked Olie

Olie was a fine show but for 1 it was not created for the preschool set, more an elementary age set... then I saw one too many shows with Olie seriously ignoring his mom or teacher or fathers directions... staying up all night sneeking around... I think once he even snuck out of the house in the middle of the night... sure it was to get his homework assignment from next door but sneeking out is not just naughty it is crossing a line grossly unsafe

Then I decided Olie was off limits... my kid loved the show and loved the space rockets and the alien feel. I just felt some shows were just off limits

Oh, I totally understand. That would bother me, too. It wasn't a favorite here, so there are lots of episodes we didn't see. I also try my best to turn off the tv as much as possible, so I didn't even hear it as background noise. Thanks for answering.

Hi out there….
Does anyone else out there wonder what happens to the Playhouse Disney shows after they stop airing them?? I really miss some of those shows! I guess mainly because DD watched them when she was baby (she's now 4) and loved them! I wish some of them were still here for my DS (he's 15 months). My DD STILL watches the Out Of The Box Christmas and Halloween VHS tapes continually! I miss them the most! Thank goodness I still have the Wiggles and Bear in the big Blue house!

Don’t get me wrong! I love the new shows too!

Also…do they change the playhouse Disney show at MGM accordingly????

just found out of the box videos on amazon! searched playhouse disney on youtube and found a bunch of home videos of the live show at MGM and some girls singing the out of the box theme song.

I do have the Christmas and Halloween ones. I have to watch them ALL year long!

This is funny! I have 3 girls, 19, 18 and 4. Over Christmas break, DD19 and DD4 went out shopping and came back all excited. They had found DVD's of Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers! Of course, they had to buy it.

Then they went out later and found Gummi Bears! When I told DD18 about the Gummi Bears DVD, she said, "I LOVE that show!"

It's funny how quickly those songs get stuck in your head again! We have one Disney channel that plays Talespin, Darkwing Duck, and I've seen Chip and Dale too.

They still talk about David the Gnome (I think this was a Nickelodeon show). DD19 also had to get the Fraggle Rock DVD.

My son used to loooove to watch PB&J Otter - they were sooo cute!!! Too bad they aren't on anymore!

Hey, I know they are not Disney but my DD4 LOVES the Upside Down show:love:. I mean she belly laughs through it!
