Playground hopping?

Do you mean "hot" temperature-wise or "hot" as in Paris Hilton says, "That's hot." ? :rotfl:

I actually meant it in the Paris Hilton way! It just looks really awesome! Sorry for the confusion!

I can't see why anyone would stop you. But all the resorts have nice play areas. I can't imagine any one of them is much better than any other.
The Poly doesn't have a playground.

Oh my goodness. Sorry, but I find it a little strange that you travel all the way to WDW for a magical vacation, and then.....tour the resorts' playgrounds???!!

:confused3

I agree. The last thing DD wants to do is swing when she has Dumbo to go on!

The Contemporary has a playground, but it's nothing special. Don't make a special trip to use it. My kids did enjoy the playground at the Swan/Dolphin. It's on the beach and close to the pool. They also have hammocks nearby.

The best playgrounds are in the park: MK's Toontown, MGM's Honey I Shrunk the Kids play area, and AK's Boneyard. At the end of Mission Space in Epcot there's an indoor McDonald's like play area that my kids loved. It's especially nice if it's hot out.

At the age of 5, my daughter was a playground junkie. She could not get enough of them. We had planned a 2 week trip to Florida, with 1 week spent at Fort Wilderness, followed by a week at Daytona Beach. We could not get my DD into the parks. She wanted nothing more than to climb on the playground toys and dig in the sand.

Thank you all, I knew I could count on you for answers! : )

For those of you that think it's strange, a little down time is a good thing once in awhile. We have a pool at home, so that's not a big attraction for us, but we live out in the country where playgrounds are few and pitiful. It's nice to have a place where I can sit down, rest, and just watch the kids run wild for a little bit without worrying about them being lost in the crowd at the parks.

I don't know how old your kids are, but I recall the sign outside the playground saying that only children ages 6 and under were allowed. I think it is due to the size of some of the slides.

Edited to add: the above post refers to Coronado Springs playground for ages 6 and under.

Playgrounds are good because it give kids a chance to get energy out- they can't exactly run around the parks. If they get it out at a playground, they will be better behaved later on.

Also, people like to use what they can't use at home. People who have a great pool at home might think it would be strange to spend a whole day at Disney at a pool when they could play in the parks. People do that a lot! Some people don't have nice playground areas at home.

My husband and I are planning a trip with our 4 year old. Like you, we live in a rural area with lots of water activities and we have access to my grandparents pool, but very limited playgrounds. Our son LOVES playgrounds. He is extremely active and vern impatient. We have found that if we take him to a playground (especially an exciting one) he will be more cooperative at the parks and during meals. We plan to try "playground hopping" because we are on a budget and we need to stay at POP. I am so thankful that you posted on this topic. It's great to know where the nice playgrounds are!

Thanks so much for the person who posted the CSR explorer link. This will be a definite stop for us & hopefully we won't offend anyonw in doing so!

Let's see....The GF and the Poly don't have playgrounds...The CR's playground is disappointing ....so will the people who stay at the deluxes and choose to playground hop to the mods or values be carded????? :earboy2: :goodvibes

No way. We have our own nice playground in our backyard. There is no way DD would want to hang at a playground when there is Disney or the nice Poly pool!

No matter how tired my girls are, I can see them wanting to play on the playground. LOL I hope we can get over to the CSR playground just for a few minutes. That looks really neat! :earboy2:

ALL of the disney resorts have playgrounds -- even the GF and Polynesian!! We end up visiting the playgrounds at every resort where we either stay or where we dine with the children. Our younger children (5 and 2.5) get antsy towards the end of meals, so either dh or I will take them to the playground. We haven't visited all of the playgrounds yet (and I can't say that this is a goal for me!!), but CSR has the best playground going as far as my kids are concerned. AKL was nice -- especially for me. It's one of the few with shade and scenery for adults (view of pool and flamingoes). WL did not appeal to either the kids or me, but this was probably because it was in the 90's and there was no shade over the play area during our visit.

The Poly does not have a playground. They took it out when they put in the new volcano pool. Where are you finding one in the last few years at the Poly?

Over the years there have been several different playgrounds at the Polynesian but there is none there currently nor is there one at the GF. Of course, the pools and beaches were always my children's favorite "playground." :sunny:

Thanks. I didn't think there was a playground at the Poly. We go there enough and I'm sure we would have seen it.
