I'm really confused about Playa Mia. Online reviews are generally good, and the feedback I've gotten from most people who've gone is that it's great for kids (splash park) but meh for adults, and we're okay with that. But I read three reviews just today on a Facebook group where people compared it to gas-station quality food and bathrooms, said it was so nasty they complained when back on the ship and got a refund, and now I'm wondering if it's even worth it.

I know a lot of people go with other places booked outside of Disney, but we feel more comfortable sticking with Disney because we're traveling with a toddler who won't have a car seat. (So taxis make us nervous.)

We were there a few weeks ago. The kids inflatable play thing looked like fun But I’m sure a toddler won’t be going on there…lol

Only there for an hour or so because it was the end piece of tour we took. Went to the Ruins first , than did the chocolate thing which is at this beach.

We didn’t eat anything there but saw a lot of food that looked good. Fast food stuff. Beach is lined with loungers some with umbrellas. It’s a beach. They do have some gift shops there that line the walkway to the beach. The washrooms were clean and not that bad. I have seen worse. The men and woman are side by side and share the sinks out front. Not sure if there was another one was along the beach we stayed by where we went down to the beach.

Not a beach person but I was ok with it. We sat in a lounger until it was time to take the bus back.

My husband liked the ruins, I was bored . Oh and the bugs…..they sold a lot of bug spray there it was bad. Liked the chocolate part, the lady that did the demonstration was very funny.

The bugs were bad at the beach? Or at the ruins? Or both?

Thanks for the feedback! Doesn't sound so bad.

The food was fine. Not fine cuisine, but there were lots of options and it was plentiful (and included in the price, which we liked). So were the drinks, both mocktails and alcoholic. I did not go hungry.

The bathrooms were not very clean, but they did not seem any worse than other beach restrooms I've been to, which all seem to have wet/sandy floors. They were fine for using the toilet and changing out of wet clothes. I would plan on wearing shoes in there.

My husband and I went in November. We don't have kids. We loved it and wished we had had longer there! We enjoyed the beach and pool. The food was good. The bathrooms were clean. Service was great. They came right to our beach chairs and we tipped for an umbrella. Our only mistake is that we chose the first tour and we ended up having 30 mins less than the group after ours because it took longer with docking and getting everyone organized and off the ship. Next time, I would either book the later tour or book on our own now that we know the area. Can't comment on the water park because we didn't go. The area felt very safe. The only people bothering us were the hair braiding people. It was on my list to do which I did and then of course they left us alone lol!!! We would go again for sure but would also consider other options in the area too.

We love Playa Mia but the food is horrible!!. Last time we went we booked on our own because we didn’t want to pay an inflated price that included lunch. It was so easy to get there, we arrived over an hour earlier than the excursion group, and saved hundreds of dollars.

Last time we were there (2 adults pre-Civid) on a DCL excursion, it was a horrible experience. The beach chairs were jammed so tightly together, it was almost impossible to get in & out of. There is a very big drop about four feet into the water that makes it difficult to get back out--I have short legs, so not great for kids.
The food was terrible & there were raccoons crawling all over the the bar & the garbage cans next to it.
Avoid!!!

I've been going back and forth on Playa Mia or Paradise Beach with our 3 yo. Either one we'll do on our own as I want to be on my own schedule and they're so close to the ship, I'm not concerned. I think I'm leaning towards Pleasure Beach after reading these comments.

We were there in June as part of the ruins/chocolate/beach break excursion. It was a rainy day. All we did at Playa Mia was buy lunch and enjoy the free wifi while sitting at a table. Bathrooms were clean enough for a beach area. We actually liked the a la carte food and the tortillas tasted freshly made. (Can't speak to the buffet which cost more than we wanted to spend.) Our excursion included 1 drink each, so our food bill only came to $33. No sign of raccoons or anything.

We've gone twice, with the most recent in March 2022. We love it there! They have things for adults to use, like sea bikes and kayaks that are free, and some that are an extra fee. The food is decent; we found that the quality had definitely improved from our last visit. The food you can order from the roaming servers is really good.
