Hi Everyone!

I know I am late in the game getting this started, but I think I want to try to do a review of the restaurants where we are going to be eating at in a week (Oh My Gosh it is getting close :cheer2:).

Quick Background:

This is a surprise trip for my parents that my husband and I have planned for their 44th wedding anniversary. We are celebrating it a little early this year just because it worked out better in their world and ours to be able to pull this off. My daddy is in on the secret, but my momma has no clue what is up, other than the fact that they are coming to Orlando to visit us for a couple of days and then we are going to MNSSHP.

The Cast:

Momma and Daddy

IMG_2354.jpg

Momma : She is foodie at heart, but that doesn't mean it needs to be complicated to be good. She comes from a long line of wonderful Southern cooks, so she knows food that is supposed to make you feel loved. She will also try anything as long as it will stop on her plate long enough. She loves the escargot at Chef's de France. Jiko is her current favorite restaurant.

Daddy : Food = good. Daddy and I share an odd allergy to bell peppers, so it makes spicy things difficult and we always have to get a chef. Daddy loves a good steak, but will eat any critter that is meat. He is also a big fan of seafood when done right. He grew up on a fishing boat, so if it isn't right he isn't happy (also if it isn't FRESH he won't eat it).

The Baby and The Baby's Boy (aka DH)

IMG_2408-1.jpg

The Baby : I am the weird child in the mix. I have a severe allergy to anything with capsesian (peppers of any kind) in them, and have to carry an epi pen for it. I am also a bit more picky on my food. I am hesitant to try new things, but if it is a different flavor variation on something I like I will try it without delay. I am also a chocolate and creme brulee fan.

The Baby's Boy (aka DH) : Likes food, but is more in the world of food = energy and why else would I eat it? Which is a little frustrating at times when you want feed back on if something is yummy and he just shrugs. He is getting better though. He grew up in Peru (as a missionary kid) so his taste are a little different than us Southerners. He will also only drink Coke (THANK YOU DISNEY for serving it) as a soda. But he is very adventurous in trying new foods and flavors. The only thing he has to be careful of is the peppers, because if he eats them he has to go brush his teeth before he can kiss me or else I get sick.

Plan of Attack:

We are staying in the GF CL, so that is dictating a lot of our dining choices.

9/24/09

Lunch: GF Cafe - We have never eaten here so this is a new adventure.
Afternoon Tea : Garden View Tea Room - Another new adventure.
Dinner: Citrico's - Our last food adventure of the day

9/25/09

Breakfast: GF CL - Let's see what all this is about :rotfl:
Lunch: Le Cellier
Dinner: Victoria & Albert's

9/26/09

Breakfast: GF CL
Lunch: Chef's de France
Dinner: Jiko

Also, we are going to have 16 snack credits to use up... How we are not sure, but since we are spending 2 days at Epcot during F&W I think we might be able to make a dent in it, and we are also going to MNSSHP on 9/25 so we might have to get a few midnight snacks.

Count me in! You guys are all so cute!

We will be staying GF CL RPC in Dec so please take lots of pics of the lounge and such for me...if you can ;)

I will try to do that, but we are staying in SL. We are crossing our fingers that at least one of our rooms will get upgraded to RPC. I can promise there will be lots of pictures of the hotel and at least SL lounge. We are taking more camera than people :rotfl2: This really is a treat of a lifetime.

Oh thank you so much..that would be very much appreciated! :worship:

We are staying there in Dec for just 3 nights (thanks to the 40% off code) and we have never stayed there before...this is DH's dream trip, the GF main building at Xmas time!

You will love the GF tea service but I have read that the CL lounge offers the same thing but at no cost....they might not have all the selections of tea that the actual TS does but they have all the pastries, scones, tea sandwiches etc...I think it is from 3-4:30 every day.

I enjoy the afternoon tea and Victoria and Albert's. I would like to try the GF Cafe, because I've heard good things about the food. :goodvibes

You have me all hyped up now. Simply can't wait to read more from you. Care to share what activities/tours you'll be doing? We are planning to do a two-night "premium plan" for our upcoming trip. It involves a lot of planning. How long have you been planning this??:worship:

Hi and welcome to the adventure!
I am glad to hear that the afternoon tea is good. I am worried about it a little bit. We will probably just share a few snacks and all get tea. Poor DH is going to miss it for his private golf lesson, poor baby:rotfl:. He isn't a tea type person, unless it is really sweet and cold.

I am nervous about GF Cafe. In some ways I want our room to be ready so that if Momma and Daddy don't like the menu we can go to the room and get room service.

Hi, and welcome on-board.

I didn't start planning until June. That is when I ran the numbers and got an ok from my dad to plan it. My DH and I had just done the platinum plan in April (when we booked that they were running the AMAZING DEAL OF 25% OFF the plan), so I was a little less control freak oriented (but I promise it was only a little less). Originally we were going to go in Dec. but that is in the middle of huntin' season and he didn't want to be out of town, so we moved it up to Sept.

If you want to follow along with my pre-trip report that has the tours and all listed check here, or click on my PTR in my sig.

We did the premium plan last April with my parents. Oh, my it was so much fun. You are going to love it. I would recommend the Keys to the Kingdom tour if you have a chance to do that, it is fantastic. Also, Cali Grill is pretty awesome too, especially to see the fireworks.

Signing on. :goodvibes

I think you'll like the Grand Floridian Cafe. I been there before, only for breakfast but have really enjoyed it. This trip we are going there for lunch. I really like the afternoon tea. It's such a nice break away from the parks.

Thank you for all these great information. Including my 2 boys, we will have 4 teens(my friend's 2 girls) We are looking forward to do most if not all of the water sports, Cirque du Soleil(night), 2 Segway tours(Epcot & Ft. Wilderness), golf lessons for the adults and maybe horseback riding. Am I way over my head trying to schedule all these activities within 2-3 days' time???

Who cares about oversceduling - you can sleep when you're dead :littleangel:

I thinking you're getting a vibe that I'm just the teeniest bit jealous....

I think that it might work. I would suggest getting the earliest time slots for the Epcot tour, and then possibly the 11 AM one for Ft. Wilderness. We had some trouble getting there for the earliest one in April because we weren't given the right instructions. It takes a while to catch the internal bus to the Bike Barn. Another idea is to schedule the 9 AM horse ride and then the 11 AM Ft. Wilderness Segway, that way you will already be on that side of property.

Honestly my best advice is to make a table of everything you want, and try to pack it in the way you think would work best, and make a couple of configurations. Then give you most desirable to your planner, and if they can't get that exact layout then go to the next one.

The last advice I can give is if you want to do all that, then skip the parks for the most part. When DH and I did the platinum in April we did 7 tours in 4 days. The only things we "rode" were - The Safari (because it was part of the tour) and the monorail (yes, I consider this a ride because it is probably one of my favorites). But we did a lot of other stuff. We rode the carriages around Port Orleans (would recommed for a great just "Ahhh" moment).

I so agree with the sleeping when you are dead. I have some sleep issues, and actually that helps me at Disney because since I can't sleep I can be doing stuff there. MY DH hasn't fully learned I am serious about the, "No Sleeping at Disney" thing.:rolleyes1

You guys have no idea how much I appreciate all the inputs. THANK YOU.
Please don't forget to update your report for us, OK??:lovestruc

Repost from over on my PTR - (but just an update on what is going on)

Well, we made it to my parents place. Ugh! This is going to be so hard. We talked to my daddy last night and we all agreed that we have all had moments where we thought we had let the cat out of the bag. But, luckily the fact that we have already told her we are going to MNSSHP has saved our tushes!

I was showing my daddy the PTR, and she woke up this morning and wandered into where we were looking at the laptop. She saw the trip report, but luckily she is very groggy and out of it in the morning. We quickly opened scoot241 Tweet Report and started looking at the pictures. Have I mentioned the boys in my family are BIG photography people? It was a great cover. BTW - if you haven't looked at Scott's pictures then you are missing something.

Does anyone have any duct tape for my mouth? PLEASE don't let me get over excited and let this slip out!!!!

Will keep you up to date on how this is going for the next 5 days.

It's here! It's here. It is 5:30 AM and almost everyone in my family is up and dressed! WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY!!!!!!!

We are taking a laptop, so hopefully I will be able to post while we are there. Also, I am going to be twittering, so keep up with us on that.
:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Have a great trip!!! I just sent a request on Twitter to be able to follow your twitts.

So how was your trip? I am dying to hear all about it

So how was your trip? I am dying to hear all about it

Trip was amazing. We did so many things and I am surprised we pulled it all off. The only problem is that it was exhausting. I have slept most of Sunday, Monday (except the parts where I was at work), and today (I have a medical issue that makes bouncing back from trips really hard).

I plan on starting the TR and Dining Report tomorrow or Thursday, so I promise I haven't forgotten anyone. We did have some camera troubles, so I don't have all the pictures of the food that I wanted, but I will do the best I can with what I have. I am so unhappy about what happened to my camera... it stopped being able to focus when you actually take the picture. :scared1::confused::sick:
