Platinum Palo dinner/brunch

Forgive me if this has been asked before but does anyone have experience bringing a guest in a different stateroom for the Platinum free Palo dinner/brunch? I ask because my husband doesn’t care to go but my mother in law (in a different stateroom) would love to go in his place. Thanks in advance for your help

Hmmm. My first answer when I started reading your question was, "No". But if you are wanting your MIL in a DIFFERENT stateroom in place of your DH that will be in your stateroom....... I really do not know if they will make an exception for you. Maybe call DCL and ask? I would NOT call this week though unless your cruise is in a few days. I would be prepared for a "no", and maybe, maybe, MAYBE be pleasantly surprised. Maybe someone here will have experience with this.

My take on it would be "no". The requirement for the "free" meal is for (as the website states)
"Platinum Complimentary Dinner at Palo***
Savor an elegant evening with one complimentary dinner at Palo, available to Platinum member and Guests staying in member's stateroom***.

• ***Offer includes dining service fee for one dinner, for Platinum Castaway Club member and Guests staying in member's stateroom who are 18 years of age or older. Subject to availability. Limited to one complimentary experience per stateroom, per sailing."

I agree that technically it would be a no. That being said, you are not asking for an extra meal you are subbing in a person. So, I would hope they allow this.

Maybe switch your husband and MIL in the rooms so it says she is in yours? Disney doesn't care where you sleep, but that way you're technically not breaking any rules by bringing her to the meal.

Awww, don't SKIP it! Will your MIL not pay the nominal fee for Palo? Or can you just pay for her? And even if the answer to both of those questions is, "no", speaking for myself and LOTS of other gals here, I would DEFINITELY go to Palo by myself!!! And enjoy it immensely!

And though the answer will likely be no from Palo/DCL, I would still politely ask once onboard. What have you got to lose?

I'm almost 100% positive this is no. They charge each person separate and remove the charge based on that person being platinum. If you take your mom, they will charge her and not remove it. The only way you could do this is if Palo agrees to put your husband on the bill even though it clearly isn't him. I doubt they will do this.

No, the charge removal is based on each person being in the stateroom where the platinum member is booked. When DW was already platinum (she’s one cruise ahead of me because she and our adult DD cruised together and I stayed home) and I was on my 10th cruise, we both received the free Palo meal. This is consistent with PrincessShmoo’s post above.

It's always said "dinner". The current letter you get once onboard says "meal". But, in the past, whatever meal you did first (if you did both) was the comped one.

Aw don't skip it! Just switch them around in the rooms so it looks like she's sailing with you.

True. My aunt and uncle got a free Palo dinner when they took their platinum granddaughter on a cruise.

I can only speak to what I experienced and don’t know if this is the norm or an exception was made.
We booked for myself and husband. The evening of our reservation my husband had a horrible headache. We were traveling with friends and the wife went in his place with me. Checking in I explained husband can’t make it, friend is here, they said no problem, and when the bill came the only charge was our drinks.

We recently sailed on the Magic, and DD was not charged for taking a non-platinum guest, her husband, to Palo for dinner. Because of limits of 3 per cabin at time of late addition of her husband, the reservation showed SIL in my cabin with me and DGD, DD and 2 other children in adjoining cabin. SIL actually stayed in cabin with DD but the record did not show that. Palo did not charge for SIL's dinner when he went with DD, who is platinum while he is not.
