Has anyone had luck recently in using the platinum "free dinner" for the brunch? Wondering if they are cracking down on using the free meal only at dinner. TIA

Most reports say that whatever you book to do first winds up being the comped meal.

Thanks, that's what we have experienced in the past. We haven't been on DCL for over two years now, so we were wondering if things have changed.

We have had lots of luck - we have used it both for brunch or dinner, whichever comes first, every cruise.

Same here. Whatever comes first, brunch or Dinner, is what they apply the Platinum credit for. There has never even been a question.

We were denied using it for brunch on the Wonder in Feb or 2014, however I think that was due to the manager at the time. We have since used it for brunch on the Fantasy in 2014, on the Wonder in Feb 2015, and on the Dream, in August of 2015, no issue at all.

This will be out 1st platinum cruise. So, basically if we want this for dinner I better have dinner scheduled 1st?

Yes. Although it really doesn't make a difference, financially, since both the brunch and dinner cost the same. If you're doing both, then you will pay for whichever is second.

I am actually Platinum and done this many times.

They offer it on any of the meals, either brunch or dinner.

You choose, your asked. They know.

You do not need to schedule them in any Order at all, that is incorrect.

I had brunch first, was offered my included free platinum, I said no I saved it for dinner a few days later.

There is no mystery to any if this, as anyone who is platinum knows, you get a letter welcoming you back, it tells you your perks and it says you have one meal included at palo, and it states either brunch or dinner when you choose.

Confusion is caused when posters who are not platinum answer posts on platinum.

We are on our first platinum cruise and we are both bummed and excited to try a Palo dinner, the cruise doesn't have a brunch offered. This will be the first time that we miss a MDR dinner, so it will be kind of a bummer. We have always liked the atmosphere in the MDRs so we shall see how it goes. On one half of the B2B we do get a brunch which we have always loved:)

Glad to hear that we can still use it for a brunch, because on the cruise that has the brunch we will not be doing a dinner.

Did they change the wording, I remember threads in the last year referencing dinner only for the Palo and if you got the brunch comped you got lucky?

On the website it still says "Dinner". But, in actual practice, both are being comped. One time per cruise.

I am actually platinum and had a similar situation to CamColt with being denied on the Dream for brunch in 2014, but it was a funny sailing as we had a 3 night with no stop in Nassau, so not a typical brunch cruise. It was not a concern though because we were also having dinner.

Dinner will definitely be included. Perhaps the best option is to check with Palo and/or guest services if you would like brunch instead.

No we have always enjoyed the MDR experience and my wife is not an adventurous eater. I am, so I am very excited, she is a bit nervous though about what kinds of choices she will have.

We have always done Palo brunch and absolutely love it. In fact it has hooked us on Bourisin spreadable cheese:) (great in mashed potatoes)

I'm incredibly picky, not adventurous at all, and love Palo dinner. In fact, I enjoy it significantly more than brunch. I only do brunch to appease my travel party. Now Remy on the other hand....will never try that!!!
