Platinum and gold booking by phone

I have an observation on the newest Platinum bookings. A group I hope to join someday, so I felt I should study them more so I can fit in later. Haha

Looking at what was purchased by platinum members(primarily A’s), and few comments about sold out B or C levels especially earlier in the start of sales. Yet on DISboards Platinum members were not listing any B’s or C’s from the sold out categories.

Could it be not every level of room is offered on opening day to platinum members?
The first evening had a primarily A level trend. Maybe platinums preference is 11A or 10A, 4A, 5A and not really a B or C kinda group. Maybe I’ll never be a Platinum Girl, since I am often found in the deep belly of the boat. But I can try to change if that is what it takes!

Maybe Disney knows how to sell a ship for the best bang of the buck. Offer the highest price rooms to those who get 10% off, then add rooms as A level fills and B level soon gets depleted leaving silver and newbies the high price B-C remainder. Anyone else see this? There must be more skilled at trends to tell me if this is probable.

I am gold and when I book on opening day, I specify a particular stateroom that I want, not necessarily an A level room. However, I book with a TA. I also have specific location on the ship in mind. I am seasick prone. I usually pick B level rooms close to midship but on the upcoming 4-night cruise, I have booked 6A for a larger balcony and trying out if aft is ok for my seasickness.

I think it's a small percentage of people who post here on DISboards. It may not be representative of the "Platinum membership." To my knowledge, DCL does not "hold back" any particular categories once booking begins.

A few things to remember:

1) There are tons of Platinum CC members who don't post on Disboards.

2) Not every Platinum CC member on Disboards participates in the opening day pricing thread.

3) If the Bs and Cs were not being offered when requested by Platinum members on opening day, that definitely would have been posted here.

I booked on opening day for the first time ever as a platinum CC member. This is a rare event as typically we book between 5 months out to recently 8 days prior to sailing.
I was curious what the fuss was about and had a specific cruise in mind for my daughters 18th birthday so that was another reason.
We prefer to book our favorite cabin on the ship and it happens to be a 5A. Had we wanted another category I have no doubt it would have been available as this is not one of those high demand cruises.
That being said, the price I was quoted (paid less due to placeholder application) was exactly the same on Thursday once it hit online as it was on Monday when I booked. So really the only thing I gained was getting the specific cabin we wanted.

We're Gold and on Gold Day we called in not looking for a class of room, rather we knew exactly which rooms we wanted and got those. When I talked to the DCL rep, she told me a "ton of rooms are still open, which ones do you want?"

Platinum here and I definitely will book B and C rooms. Usually I have an exact room or category in mind (ex. secret verandah room) but often the room is the lower levels in the category. I used to have a 4B on the Wonder that I liked, but it got changed to a Cat V. The room I booked this time was a cat 5E because we wanted to try the extended aft verandah.

We are gold and usually book on "gold" opening day...we always choose category 5E (our favorite) and it is always available

As a family of 5 (and we're unwilling to unleash our kids in a room of their own), we end up with the 4A+ or 8B+. At that point, there's very little cost differential from the A, B...categories so I go and spend the few extra hundred for a midships room.
