i know this has been a topic of discussion, but can someone who is currently in WDW or even DLR (or who has been very recently) let me know if you HAVE to buy a reusable bag? do they still have the plastic bags? i know my local disney store now only has the reusable bags you have to buy or you don't get a bag at all. the wording on the WDW site says the reusable bags are "offered as an alternative" to the plastic bags. just wondering if that means it's offered, but if you don't buy one you don't get a bag. The wording is a little tricky

They are not getting rid of plastic bags , they are hoping guests decide to go the reusable bag route
oh really? I had thought they were switching over to reusable completely? I had heard they would continue with plastic until they ran out. Maybe that was just a rumor?

The latest statement is that they will have them in case guests don't want to buy the reusable ones

I bought a reusable, which is thin and not that reusable, but it is a souvenir. I was also given bags and they were still wrapping breakables for travel in tissue and that brown corrugated stuff, as well.

I had to buy a reusable at Disney Springs on Friday, but yesterday at MK they gave me plastic without even asking me to buy one. Of course, everything I bought yesterday was pretty small. So I don’t know if size of purchase made a difference

You had to buy?
Did that tell you there was no other option or did they just ask what size iif reusable bag you wanted?

Two weekends ago Disney Springs was giving plastic bags. I wasn't asked if I wanted to purchase a reusable bag.

Just got back last week from WDW, unless you asked to purchase a reusable bag, you'd be given a plastic bag. They weren't pushing the reusable bags. They aren't that expensive, $1/small, $1.50/medium and $2/large, but like a PP mentioned, they're pretty thin.

I am glad the regular bags are still an option and I'm glad there is a reusable bag option. Depending on the circumstances, either one might be a better choice. I do plan on getting some of the reusable bags though because I use them everyday at home and they are super cute.

Sounds like I'll be bringing my own, then. Way back (2009) when they did the "Picnic in the Park" at AK, they gave a reusable bag with your picnic lunch and I still have that bag. I was planning to buy these reusable bags too, but if they're really thin, I might pass.

I would have put the armful of clothes back on the counter and said "I'd like a refund instead".
yes you can but your refund to your card could take up to a week to show up. I have found cards are quick to charge your card but slow to refund your money. even at that early point. the store is not going to give you cash back to a card sale

I don't care how long the refund takes and that does not change my opinion at all.
