Plastic or Paper MYW Tickets?

Ok, I'm confused now. Just read on a wholesaler's site that if you are staying at a Disney resort and buy your tickets from Disney, you get plastic tickets. If you are not staying on-site and buy your tickets separately, the tickets you get are paper. Is this true?

If so, I'm concerned about how well the paper tickets hold up.

I just received my park tickets last week. They're plastic--we're staying at the Dolphin and I bought the tickets separately. When I've purchased tickets as part of a Disney package, they were on my hotel key.

DD was a little confused that our 7 day park hoppers are plastic whereas our Annual Passes were paper. Now THAT makes no sense.

Our last stay at WDW we have plastic passes but we stayed on site. I know that the plastic passes double as room keys too.

We just got back from Disney last week. I bought the seven day passes from Ticket Mania in December. They were paper and we did not stay on sight.

Oh I forgot to answer the last part of your question. The paper ones held up very well. They are a heavy duty paper and are coated. We used them for Seven days and Traveled with them all the way from Michigan(driving). They still look new.

With the paper AP's you can always ask at guest relations to get new paper AP's if the old ones are worn out. As they wear out they sometimes take a couple of tries to get them to work in the FP machines. We exchaged them a couple of times with our last AP's. I would assume with the MYW tickets they would exchange them out as well if needed.

If you do exchange them be sure to copy the back of the tickets again in case you lose the new ones - That way they can replace them easier.

We were just at Dinsey. Me and my 3 kids have the paper AP's. I booked the room with the Best Rate thing. My husband bought his MYW ticket at the Magic Kingdom on our first day there and his was paper. Since it wasnt a package deal, his room key was not his park ticket. But his was paper just like our AP's.
