I have noticed in people's pics that some of the deluxe resorts now have plasma tv's in the rooms. Does anybody know if there are plans for any of the moderate resorts to also get them? I hope so ;)

They're not plasmas, they're LCD televisions.

There's quite a difference in picture quality and cost.

The LCD tv's are LG brand. Honestly, the picture is not that good, since the feed is not High Definition, plus they are at the factory settings, which for some channels makes people look pink or orange. I found the television difficult to watch in our room at Wilderness Lodge. I like how the televisions look in the room decor when they're turned OFF, but when they're turned on...:scared1:

The resorts that have them are GF, Poly, Contemporary, and Wilderness Lodge. So far, that's it, I think. I'm sure there are plans to switch over all the t.v.'s, but no one seems to know when the timeline is for the Epcot resorts and AKL.

Actually I hope they do not upgrade them too soon. As a cheap tube TV has a much better picture than a cheap LCD TV.

There was a 32" LG LCD television in our room at the Polynesian... how disappointing. When off, the television looked great, but when it was on... honestly Disney; if you are going to invest in something like an LCD televison, you might as well get some HD channels!!

We have 4 LCD and 1 DLP televisions in our house, all of which are connected to a central HD cable feed and the picture looks great. MUCH MUCH MUCH better than at Disney.

It all depends on the feed. If you're running off an SD feed, an analog television, such as the old ones at Disney, would be best. If you're running off an HD or HD Lite feed, a digital television, such as the new ones at Disney, would be best. As far as I know, Disney hotels only have SD feeds.

Actually they do have HD channels, but you have to monkey with the controls. It took me two days to figure this out at the Poly last year (much to my chagrin, as my first day there was the first day of the NFL season) but if I recall correctly (and it has been eight months) you had to go into the menu and rescan the channels and then go all the way through the channels (by hitting channel up) to get to the dozen or so HD channels.

Hopefully someone can confirm this so it doesn't appear that I'm crazy. I swear it's true.

Is your cable bill high?

We have 2 LCD, 1 DLP, and 1 plasma and we have those dual hd/dvr combos w/ our cable compnay.

Picture is beautiful in HD, even the non hd channel look better (except the plasma), however, my cable bill is $230 a month (mostly due to equipment)
