Plantar Fasciitis sufferers: Slippers recommendation needed!

Admittedly, my PF isn't bad at all, but I've been able to take care of it with three things:

1. Do the exercises the doctor gave me: I keep a baseball in my desk drawer and roll it around with my foot when I'm at my work computer. And I pick a washcloth up from the floor with my toes. Those exercises are magic.

2. Limit flip-flop wear to every other day, at most. Sandals are fine, if they have a back and if I'm not walking extensively. I do go barefoot in the house a great deal.

3. Never, ever, ever lie on the loveseat with my feet hanging off "pointing my toes". I've learned from experience that doing that for even a short time is just the kiss of death for me. I'll be in serious pain the next day.

Currently I don't wear slippers, which is why I posted this in the first place.

I don't have splints, but if I did, from what I understand they are worn while you sleep, not during the day, so I don't know why wanting a good pair of slippers would have anything to do with splints. :confused3

Maybe you missed the part in my original post where I mentioned that I am at home most of the day and that I don't like wearing my sneakers during the day inside my house, and that's why I asked if there were any good slippers with orthotic foot beds, and apparently there are. :)

Sorry, I just was curious. I wore my splints 24/7 for two weeks. It was akward but it solved the problem. I still keep them in the closet just in case. Hope you get over the PF!:goodvibes

Hi!

There is a company called Footsmart, www.footsmart.com.

This company has a great variety of footwear, slippers, insoles, exercise equipment, wraps, etc, designed specifically for people who have Plantar Fasciitis.

I wear 'fuzzy' Crocs in winter, and regular crocs in summer as my slippers. Most of the main floor of my home is hard tile, and it does a number on my feet. Never going barefoot on the tile EVER anymore, and always having a shoes/slipper with a really good sole, has prevented my PF from coming back. :goodvibes

I wonder - once you have PF, aside from it flaring up, does it ever go away or are you always susceptible to it?

2 of my 3 sisters were diagnosed with PF …. and then I was …. :sad2:

I was in allot of pain and quite frankly tried to ignore that it was PF. :sad2:

Well I got the proper inserts for my shoes/sneakers and did all my PF foot exercises all of the time and wore crocs when home. Stopped wearing my flip-flops which living here in SoCal … I love all my flip-flops. :sad2:

So I started to notice the PF subside …. and now its been a whole year with no PF at all.

Now maybe my diagnosis was not all that severe but its gone and thats all I care about.

Oh and I w/o daily on either a treadmill or an elliptical. If I am not at the gym, I am out walking. So I am still getting in all my exercise with no signs of PF returning. :thumbsup2

I have crocs..ther are quick on off and REALLY supper squishy so I have 0% pain when walking either first thing in the morning or after I take off my shoes after work with the inserts. Give them a try I think you will find them heavenly!!

Me, too!

Another vote for crocs as slippers. I NEVER go barefoot anymore unless I am in the shower or the pool. It has made a world of difference.

I wear Stegman clogs around the house and they seem to provide plenty of support. Besides the PF, I am diabetic and have neuropathy in my feet so walking around barefoot is a thing of the past for me! I wear Birkenstocks when I wear sandals and they seem to work out pretty well.

I was a strictly barefoot in the house gal until a resolved case of Plantar Fasciitis decided to come back. The first time I had it, I switched my shoes to Birkenstocks and that eventually made it subside. This time, that was not working so I bought the Orthaheel Relax Slippers to wear in the house. I put them on as soon as I step out of bed and wear them whenever I don't have shoes on. In fact, they are so comfortable I have on more than one occasion left for work and when I got outside realized I never took off my slippers. My plantar fasciitis has once again gone away and I give the credit to the slippers since I don't really concern myself with daytime shoe inserts or special shoes. They are pricey for a pair of slippers, but worth every penney.
