Plantar faciitis (heel spur)

I had surgery due to the Plantar faschiitis and now wear prescriptive orthotics. I still have heal spurs. They are two different things. I would never wear anything other than my orthotics in my New Balance shoes to the parks.

I have PF and since I couldn't go barefoot or wear slippers around the house this winter I bought a pari of Holey Soles (Canadian version of Crocs that happen to fit a narrow foot better). I found that even though the back is open I can put a pair of arch supports in and they fit perfectly and stay in place. There is enough room and I have the arch support I need. Can't say how they would do in the summer at the parks though.

Well, I least I know I'm not alone in my suffering!!!;)

I've had PF for about 5 years. The fat pads on the bottom of my feet are also breaking down, the Podiatrist has no explanation for that. I have spent literally several thousand on different Dr.'s visits, mutiple custom orthotics, shoes, you name it, I've tried it! So far the only thing that has helped are the stretching exercises in the morning & Birks Architect collection shoes. These have a gel heel in the cork sole, unfortunately they've been discontinued.:confused3 But even this doesn't help after several days in the parks, my feet will hurt. I am even considering using a ECV for upcoming trips.

The crocs are just too wide for my feet & cause blisters. I think they might work for the PF if they fit properly.

Also, I saw it mentioned a page or two back, but the Crocs Relief. Has anyone used them and how has it worked for you? Like others mentioned, I hate the idea of sloshing around in wet sneakers so was thinking of trying these, but I think they can only be ordered from the Crocs site.

I just recently purchased a pair, so not sure how well they work yet (but I wore them today around town and me did seem to hurt less... and I am still recouping from surgery 2 months ago). My local store that sells Crocs did not have the Relief, so I had to order them online.... However I bought them from FootSmart instead of the Croc site (was lucky to get a deal for no cost shipping and they specialize in only the RX devision of Crocs... GL

Buy those gel inserts for your sneakers.

Be aware that you won't be able to wear your gel inserts on the plane - pack them in your checked luggage instead. I just checked the TSA's web site for updates on their prohibited carry-on items, and gel inserts were listed.

I have orthotics in my tennies,, they help a BUNCH,, but I also love crocs, . (I also have my last pair of orthotics hot glued in my fav pair of slippers I wear around the house).

but,, for ANYONE with pain in their feet, rent an ECV!! it is sooooooo worth it, ( & not at all expensive renting offsite, they deliver, I recommend Walker). the ECV works very well as a pack mule! carrying families extra clothing snacks, drinks etc!

Crocs helped me a lot, plus doing stretches and wearing inserts when I run or do aerobics. Also no walking around in bare feet. I hate to say it, but the best thing I did for my heel spurs is to lose 20 lbs. When I put on a few pounds, the pain comes back. I brought both running shoes and Crocs to WDW. My feet hurt with the running shoes, but felt great with Crocs. I have both the Metro and Nile styles.

I brought a tennis ball and rolled my foot over it first thing in the morning and upon return from the parks. I also carried 2 one gallon ziplocs in my backpack to the parks. That way when we got back to the resort I could fill them with ice before we went to the room. Then I iced both heels for 20 minutes. It worked wonders!
