Plans?! What Plans?!?! An Oct 2012 TR. 11/17 - Final Update!

Other comments (got too excited to read about our meetup LOL).

I am impressed they brought you a new mattress, and CSR looks AMAZING - how have I not seen those room photos beforE?!? WOW. With a AP discount I might consider staying there sometime in the future.

I love you "had" to build in non-park days. I'm awful about building those in, but I know Andrew would love that.

Ugh, I hate hate hate Disney buses. This trip I think we 100% avoided them - your trip to DTD just reminds me why!

NO WAY - you were able to get the Goat's Town!? I couldn't remmeber what I had last trip that was so delicious, but it was THAT! YUM! So smart of you to email ahead (sorry if I missed that from yuor PTR lol)

Ok excited to read more!

Great updates and pics.

We are the same way about the F&W as your hubby about having to pay. It is annoying.

I might have to go to Biegarten next time. I have not been there in 5 years now.

The dessert party looked so fun and delicious. We were there then too but over by Norway watching.

Looking forward to reading more.

I think I will go check out the dining report.

I'm glad someone agrees with my DH. I kinda agree. It would be nice to have a set price you pay up front but I have no idea how they would control something like that!

Biergarten is always good for us!

Hi Paula! I'm finally here and getting caught up after being in Vegas and having family time for the last week or so.

First I have to say that I love your cute "minnie" manicure - so adorable.

What a great surprise for your DH at the Denver airport - I'm glad that worked out perfectly - other than not seeing him with the first pass by the restaurant! I love that you were able to use IM to keep him in the dark.

I need to make it to your DR since I want to see more details on your Raglan Road meal and the dessert party! :)

Your room at Coronado Springs looks very nice.

I'm looking forward to reading about all 14 days!

Thank you! I loved my Minnie nails! I was SO sad to lose them! The being able to text my husband from up in the air was awesome. It was reallt wonderful being able to be on the same flight as him!

Ack you were too quick for me!! SOrry it took me so long to get over here! SO FUN to hear about your day before we met up in person!! You guys had QUITE a fun afternoon starting with Biergarten!! HAHAHA you are awesome. We would have had so much fun going around together (though maybe Aria could have stayed with a friend or family member for that occasion). I am going to have ot check out your dining review, I can't wait to hear what you guys enjoyed at the 3D party. I don't think we got any pictures from the Illuminations viewing, but that was so much fun with you guys!! :goodvibes

So funny to hear what your package pick up was, I don't remember you mentioning it was wine, but i do remember you guys were headed to the hot tub right?! That drink Hunter brought out was absolutely horribly BTW~~ :rotfl: but Andrew enjoyed it (GUYS!). Hahahha.

Oh man what a fun night that was. I can't wait to write about it in my TR - and funny enough those PP pics were the ONLY nighttime EPCOT ones that came out great! YAY!

I'm really glad I got to meet you! The drink Hunter had was actually something he would make at home lol. A bit of this, a bit of that...

It was fun being able to watch Illuminations with you. Although I don't remember much since I was tipsy and talking with you guys lol.

I was amazed they brought a new mattress as well! I think the new one was the same as the old but it was the thought that counted!

The buses were only bad to/from DtD during daytime hours, otherwise it was okay!

I'm glad something else enjoyed the Goat's Town! The next time you go to Raglan Road you will have to ask if you can get it!

When we left Downtown Disney it again took awhile to get back to our room. The bus again made a stop at Blizzard Beach making the trip seem longer than necessary. ( I will say that it is only this trip to DtD that we had major hassles with the buses, otherwise we didn't mind them.)

When we got to our room we got changed for the evenings adventure. The plans for this night is what dictated the WHEN we were going on this vacation. I had heard about the Swan & Dolphin F&W Classic from the previous few years and I knew this was something my husband would LOVE.

To get to the Swolphin we took the bus to Hollywood Studios and then the boat to the Swolphin. Again taking the busses into account I left us plenty of time to arrive and we did indeed arrive quite early. We got our tickets as I had opted for Will-Call and then walked around the "breezeway" taking a look at all that would be offered that night. (We were at least 45 minutes early I believe)

AS we browsed it was the perfect time to get a picture of the wonderful Sugar Sculpture done by the Executive Pastry Chef at the resort.

ry%3D400

And another one for good measure...

ry%3D400

And a picture of us..
ry%3D400

When we were done perusing the options it was still pretty early (the event started at 5pm) so we went inside the Swan I believe and my husband got himself a coffee!

We sat in the lounge and talked with another couple also waiting for the event to start. They had been in attendance the previous year (by accident) and had really enjoyed it so came back again this year on purpose!

As the clock was nearing 5pm I suggested we head back out and get our little plates and wine glasses so as to be ready on time!

We were soon enjoying a variety of food and wines and were having a good time.

(Full review will of course be in my Dining Review!)

As we were walking around we happened across Michael Mina and Todd English so my DH got his picture taken with them.
ry%3D400

My husband learning more about one of the wines (I think they were discussing corked wines vs the new screwtop, but I can't be positive!)
ry%3D400

A picture of us after we had been there a few hours.
ry%3D400

I should mention that the weather this evening was PERFECT. A little breezy but it was warm and the humidity was pretty low.

And as we were there longer we had more wonderful wine to drink and met some people... (Who because of the wine we had to drink I have no clue on WHO they are now!)
ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

Oh look! It's Michael Mina again!!!
ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

And this time I got in the picture!
ry%3D400

My husband likes taking random pictures with staff...
ry%3D400

And then we ended up back by this guy. Now let me tell you... We are more Red Wine drinkers than white but this guy had THE BEST wine there...
ry%3D400

We met these two ladies near the best wine guy... They were event planners and were at the Swan to plan a corporate event and were enjoying the night out...

I actually remember their names! Seana and Reyna!
ry%3D480

And again another random staff person...
ry%3D400

ry%3D400

We pretty much finished out the evening talking with the ladies and drinking that wine.
ry%3D400

The event was then over and it was time to leave...
ry%3D400

Which called for a boat ride back to DHS where we would again catch the bus to our resort. But before we could catch the boat we had to meet some more random people also waiting...
ry%3D400

When the boat finally arrived they asked if we knew that DHS was closed... We replied Yup, we knew! We didn't need the park... just a bus back to our resort....

Holy Moley that is a GREAT F&W event! You guys look like you had an amazing and fun time. You were making friends everywhere. I have to say that the more wine I have the more friends I make as well!! :lmao: Glad to see the photos of the celebrity chefs. :thumbsup2

That sugar sculpture is unbelievable! I wouldn't have know it was sugar - what a creation!

Great update Paula! Looked like a lot of fun. Love all the photos of random people, lol! :thumbsup2

It took me a long time to figure out how to fill a post with this evening since it mostly revolved around food... Therefore we get Random people pictures lol! It really was a fun night though!

Yay! Random wine infused people pictures :cool1: :rotfl:

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

Unfortunately my Thanksgiving was just a regular day, I worked and spent the day solo. Will get to see my hubby soon though!!

My husband is the one that is good at making new friends but I was doing pretty good that evening! Wine definietly helps!

I didn't mean to leave the celebrity chef pictures out of the dining report... Sorry!!

It was a wonderful time! Would love to do it again sometime!!

Sunday October 14th dawned PRETTY early after having been to the F&W classic the night before. Granted the classic was done at 9pm but with that much wine all we really wanted to do was sleep some more! But I had an AGENDA.. I'd been planning our first MK day for what seemed like AGES... And this is where my well laid plans all started to fall apart.

My DH... doesn't he look THRILLED!

ry%3D400

I was ready to go though!!
ry%3D400

Yup... he is a tad sleepy...
ry%3D400

The goal of my day had been to see the Rope Drop Ceremony. I made sure we were up and ready and we were there just in time to see the Ceremony! I was happy we had made it....

Waiting....
ry%3D400

But...

It wasn't to be according to my plans :( There Was no Rope Drop Ceremony this day! I just stood there looking like an idiot waiting... Finally my DH said to me... "Are we just going to stand here all day?!?!" So in we headed...

My Blurry photo...
ry%3D400

Heading down Main Street
ry%3D400

It's Pretty empty at this point!
ry%3D400

So I was trying to take pictures and my DH was trying to hurry me along... Alright Alright, we'll go!

My plans had us then heading to FL. Ride all the rides there and then head to Frontierland...

So we arrived to FL and headed to Peter Pan!
ry%3D400

He's still not thrilled!
ry%3D400

No Flash pictures I promise!

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

All the rest were pretty blurry... Anyways... I like the WDW version of Peter Pan better for one reason. When you are flying over London it seems to have more detail!

Once we returned to dry ground we headed for the always thrilling "It's a Small World"

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

It was at this point that my DH informed me that he wasn't feeling real well and he really needed to have something to eat. He is usually not a fan of breakfast food and he had had a Protein Shake so I had figured we were safe for awhile. I mentioned to him that the only places I knew of that were open as a place to have Waffles (Sleepy Hollow) and the Main Street Bakery. He didn't feel like he wanted either of those. So we walked all around FL looking for something else. Let me tell you, they really should have some of the carts open earlier! What we was really wanting was a Pretzel. He thought that the carbs would help calm his stomach but unfortunately there were not to be found and most CS places don't open till 11ish... So... Can you all guess where we ended up?!?!

Main Street Bakery of course! Once we had walked all around FL I said lets just go to the Bakery, there should be something there that isn't too sweet that you can have.

So now we were in Main Street Bakery during the slower part of the day. I wasn't mad that we were there as I knew my DH really needed something to eat if he said something but was just frustrated that my planning had fallen apart so quickly.

Found your TR......loving it!!! I was wondering how the F&W worked at WDW.....I thought you probably bought a "bracelet" for a set price and then hit up the booths....so I guess your hubby wasn't far off in thinking the same. I've never done a food festival, but knowing this is Disney run.....I guess I should have known you'd need lots & lots of money!!

My hubby would love going to one but I'm not a wine drinker.....AT ALL!! Ick! I also found out recently that I can't drink hard liquor without feeling like I'm having a heart attack......so beer it is!!

Gonna check out your dining report as well......love Food Porn!!! :rotfl2:

Oh no!! Food stat! Sorry your DH didn't feel so well... I hope it didn't completely derail your plans but it sounds like you were very helpful and understanding.

I love your matching (well, matching in theme at least) Mickey T shirts - I want yours!!! :rotfl:

Boo for no opening ceremony. I've hustled my butt over to MK to only miss the ceremony by minutes. Once I saw the puff of fireworks from the distance I knew I was too late!

Your photos from IASW and Peter Pan are fabulous - even with no flash. :thumbsup2

I hate being hungry in the parks before 11am!! It is so frustrating that the options are so limited.

LOVED reading about the Food&Wine Classic- and all the pics with your new friends!

Looks like such a fun night!

Welcome Laurie!! Maybe Disney needs to make it a wristbank, punch card type thing lol! Maybe it would satisfy those people that think they are being nickle & dimed!

I was not a wine drinker before I met my DH but I have been reformed! Beer is actually the one thing I can't stand...

Hope you enjoy the Food Porn, there is so much more to come (after my quick little trip to DL!)

It pretty much de-railed my plans and I was frustrated for a bit but then I realized it was okay. I just had to go with the flow lol.

I hate being hungry in the parks before 11am!! It is so frustrating that the options are so limited.

LOVED reading about the Food&Wine Classic- and all the pics with your new friends!

It's crazy they don't have anything for food except for Sleepy Hollow and Main Street Bakery (unless I missed something?!?!)

The F&W classic was really awesome! Really enjoyed it!

Found your TR yesterday and popped in because we were there around the same time! The beginning of our trip overlapped with the end of yours. 2 weeks in Disney, sounds like Heaven! I can see how you would need that time with DH after being away for so long. My own DH used to work offshore and could be gone for up to 2 months at a time, so I know how you need that down time to reconnect and have fun.

I have to say, I was laughing at the pics of your DH with the workers at the F&W Classic! Great pics with your new "friends"! :rotfl:

Subscribing & looking forward to more!

F&W classic looks awesome. I wonder when it will be next year, if it is the 4/5th then I might be swayed to go for an adults only F&W weekend and incorporate that in. Yum!

Cute photos of MK morning! I hate sweets in the morning, maybe a croissant or something like that worked for HUnter?

I'm sorry, but I did laugh at you waiting for a rope drop ceremony that wasn't happening!! Entering the park is much more fun than just standing around!!

Hopefully DH was feeling better soon and you were able to get back to your park touring!!

:welcome: My DH is great at making friends! 2 months apart at a time had to be difficult as well!!

I was just stumped! I had not heard of it not happening at MK and I was just in a state of shock I think!

While my husband was relaxing in hopes of feeling better I took a look
at the Times Guide and noticed that the Main Street Trolly show would
be happening soon. I left my husband to chill and went to see if I
could see it.

Apparently the show starts on one end of Main Street and works its way
to the other end.

After watching the first two stops they made I decided that was good.
I went back inside the Main Street Bakery to see how my hubby was
doing. He said he was feeling a bit better and was willing to give
some more rides a try. I suggested Splash Mountain as it is one of my
favorites and except for the big drop its really not to hard on the
stomach! It was only about 9:30-10am at this point but it was already
pretty warm so the perfect time for me as the wait was just a few
minutes.

Some pictures as we walked that way...

Booo... The Country Bear Jamboree was closed!
ry%3D400

Before getting on Splash I grabbed FP's for BTMRR as I was hoping the
time would work out to be able to ride that next. I went to get the
FP and the darn machines wouldn't work! Turns out my purse I used the
day before had De-magnatized them so we had to get new park passes!
(We did that when we left in the afternoon).

We then took our log ride through Splash Mountain. We got a little
wet but it wasn't bad! (Felt good actually!) Then since the line had
been so short I recommended we go again! DH was up for it so into the
queue we went. This time the line was just a touch longer but stil
pretty quick!

In fact the longest I waited around Splash was to get our ride photos
added to our Photopass+ card!

After the second time on Splash we went to use our BTMRR FP's.

I was hoping for the back but instead we got the front so DH got to be
the Engineer!

When we got off of BTMRR DH informed that that had probably been too
much, his stomach wasn't feeling good again and he really needed
something calm to do or to sit and rest awhile....

Any ideas what I suggested we do?!?!

I didn't know the name of the Main Street Trolly show - I've learned another new thing! Yay for Splash x 2 and BTMRR but boo for Hunter not feeling well. I see some chill time at the Hall of Presidents?? Wild guess there. :)

Yay for getting a few rides in...but sounds like you'd have to take it a bit slower after Splash and Big Thunder Mountains!

Hmmm...Haunted Mansion?
