Good morning to all,
First of all, I want to mention that we were at RIV the days before they closed the parks, so we experienced the trying to keep your distance issue and it wasn't that bad, but I can tell you that we didn't enjoy our stay those last days as we usually do. That worry feeling was always in the back of our minds.
We are still undecided if we want to go for the 4th of July week with our 23y/o DS and 17y/o DD. We are trying to figure out what we would do during our stay. We would drive as we still don't feel comfortable flying. We do want to go back to our happy place , even if we don't go to the parks.I don't think that we would go anyway with having to wear a mask with this heat and humidity ( we can barely take it with no masks on ). Anyway, we are thinking of things that we could do at the resorts and would probably visit Disney Springs in the late evening. Just trying to figure out if we should go now or make plans for Labor Day weekend instead. Right now, we are thinking of having a split stay at RIV and Polynesian. We wanted to stay at our home resort AK at Jambo house, but don't want to risk getting moved to Kidani.
We would love to hear what your plans are of things to do if you are going before the parks open.
Thank you in advance

I know what you mean about your 'happy place', but I am just not sure how happy it's going to be at this point with so little to do. What is there? Maybe some pool time? Some Disney Springs time? Room time? A few restaurants open? Some folks will make the most of that, but we're going to wait. You mention not being concerned about the parks being closed because you don't want to wear a mask in the heat and humidity - but you do know the masks will be required during your resort-only stay, as well? We completely understand the mask requirement at this time. But we'll wait for that to ease (or the weather to get cooler) before heading back. Strange times - we all want WDW back to how it was, and sadly, that's a long way off. If you go, I hope it's a fun and safe trip.

Ditto to thnxfornoticin's response, and I think the mask requirements may still be there for a Labor Day trip. It's still very hot and humid then as well.

We are going to eat some (modified) Disney food, check out our hotel, look around some gift shops, play disney games in the room and watch Disney tv in the room, hang out at the pool, go to DS, and go to Universal for a few days. We might even Uber over to the outlet mall. Fun filled week for us!

That should like fun!
thank you

Yes, I also agree. We actually moved our September reservations to March , 2021. But then you start missing it, but I think for us, wearing a mask outdoors with the heat and humidity is not going to work. We may start looking into driving to New Mexico, it will be cooler for sure, and there some sites that we always to visit.

I plan on not working and not worrying about getting everyone ready to go to the parks early.

This is also our "Welcome Home" stay at AKV and first time at any deluxe resort! Now I just have to figure out how to offset the calories from all the food and drink without walking 25 miles a day.

We have a one bedroom at VGF booked for the 4th holiday weekend. But I’m contemplating switching over to a treehouse. I love both resorts so much. The secluded nature of the treehouses I find very appealing vs dealing with elevators at the VGF. The point cost is only 10 points more. My only concern is if we will be able to pool hop as they treehouses do not have a great pool area. What do you guys think?

I think given the pool limitations I don’t think pool hopping will be in play.

I think we’re going to visit some other Orlando area attractions. Right now Gatorland, Aquatica and CityWalk are on our list. Looking forward to spending some time at the pool as well.

Sounds like. Disney made something of a commitment in saying that parades, stage shows and fireworks are out enough to make MNSSHP a goner.

we are thinking of doing a pool only trip in August, but now they’ve instituted masks in public places. So we’d essentially have to stay in the pool the whole time and not be able to sit there without our masks.
