The first addition to the water parks in quite sometime.

It's about time! The current family raft ride is thrilling for maybe a 2 year old.

No.

I imagine they'll want to get it open as soon as possible, especially with Volcano Bay opening, but I don't see it earlier than next summer.

I'm glad to hear about Blizzard Beach as well! I know there hasn't been too many advancements in water park slides since Blizzard Beach opened (bowls are the only type of slide that I can think of that are missing from both water parks) but I'm excited to hear at least something is in the works!

Blizzard beach hasn't had any significant additions since it opened.

To their credit they learned from TL and built a pretty good park with BB from more thrilling slides, to the tween area to a self contained well designed kiddie area. But I look forward to any additions.

I always say it's the last completed full concept park/attraction by Disney...
But 21years is a long time to sit on it or anything of its ilk.

Welcome news as long as they don't close the present raft ride. Not every ride needs to be a thriller - leave some family stuff. My wife loves the TL raft ride but won't ride the BB one. And the BB one scared my daughter when I tried to take her at age 7.

The Blizzard Beach one was my mom's favorite ride there! Now I'm a tad concerned for its safety

heh heh I only worry for safety of little ones on the BB ride. It flips up sideways so fast that a younger child can fly off the bottom of the raft or tumble down if they aren't holding on tight. I hope testing was done to show a toddler or small child won't actually fly out. A larger child or teen who fails to hold on may tumble a bit but not likely to fall out. That never happens on the BB raft. My daughter at age 7 was small and similar in size to 5 year olds.

I have not been to any of the water parks since I was a wee lad so I can't remember anything that is at any of the parks. However nice to see not just the big 4 +springs getting attention! May have to copy paste link I put into the thread (apologies!) Enjoy!

Even though Disney’s water parks are among the most-attended in the world, guests have to deal with frequent breakdowns at Blizzard Beach and a general lack of development at both water parks. However, in a rare bit of good news for Walt Disney World water park fans, documents were filed recently with the South Florida Water Management District that reveal that for the first time in over a decade, Disney is working on a brand new attraction for one of its water parks.

I have been to both parks but have not gone recently to either. I would go if they counted as a park day in a multi day ticket but the water parks and more doesn't seem worth it to me.

The last few trips, my family voted to skip the water parks and have a beach and shopping day instead. The deciding factors are cost, having to wake up early to beat the lines for the slides, crowding, having a fairly long, hot and busy day, and the frequent number of times that storms occur and we're pulled out of the water.

By crowding I mean, constantly being jostled and bumped, dealing with obnoxious queue jumpers, having a hard time finding and fighting for space for our towels etc., and literally being squashed up against people in the lazy river.

I absolutely love the water parks and I am happy to see something new coming on board, however, I am SO TIRED of seeing Disney under construction. I know it's supposed to be constantly changing and in progress, but I'd like to see one project finished before another one starts. So sick of seeing construction walls.

I hear you loud and clear...

The problem is they didn't really build much from 2000-2010

..and that comes at a price. There always should be "some" things being built - without exception - so they don't scramble and have a quagmire like you see now.
