Planning trip?

For those of you who have gone on "planning trips" prior to your wedding (or vow renewal) - when did you go?

What happens during this trip?

Thanks!

Our wedding is in December and we're going for our planning trip at the end of July. We're meeting with our wedding planner for our planning session and I'm also having my hair and makeup trial.

Honestly, the planning trip isn't completely necessary (my cousin got married in WDW and never went down for a planning session) but it's a nice excuse for another trip! :rotfl:

We are not going through DFTW, but we are going to have a quick planning trip 3-4 months before the wedding, but honestly it's just to check out the grounds of our ceremony site and reception & also to do my hair and make up trial.

We went on ours about 5 months before the wedding. We did the planning session and menu tasting, plus a site visit. I also had my hair and makeup trial right before we did engagement photos with our wedding photographer around the resorts.

I went to my planning session in March for my June wedding. I would have liked to go at the 6-5month mark but we switched to a Wishes wedding late in the game and that was the soonest we could do it.

We went to a tasting and then to Franck's for the timeline, cake tasting, linens, flowers, and everything that you'd need for a wedding.

Thanks for the responses!

We're hoping for April 2011 and already have a trip planned for October 2010. so I'm thinking that might be our "planning trip". This will be for our vow renewal (for our 20th anniversary) but I want it to be perfect (since our actual wedding wasn't).

I should hopefully know if we have the April date (and time) sometime around the 18th of August or so and a friend & I are already planning on attending the Open House on the 28th of August.

I think I'm getting too excited about this VR! :rotfl: More so than my wedding!

The timing sounds perfect and that is so great that you will be able to go to the Open House. We went for our planning session in May 2008 for our November 2008 wedding.

Besides the planning session, I also did a hair and makeup trial (like most above) and then later that day met with our officient and photographer (Misty). I loved doing this - this way we got to meet our officient before the ceremony and we were able to get pictures done with Misty and actually talk with her and get to know her and her husband and they got to know us. It made for a much less stressful wedding day.
