Planning to attend Halloween Horror night

Actually, the wristbands were to show who was there for HHN! I kept mine. This was near the very end of the month, the last Thurs and Fri of Oct. I just assumed that's how they always did it, as this was our first HHN. We didn't do the VIP tour, they gave the wristbands to everyone at Finnegans who had HHN ticket for that night.

All this talk is really making me want October to be here NOW!

Macraven,

We were orginally sitting near the Lucy Tribute because half our party wasn't doing HHN. When it was time for them to leave, we headed towards the boneyard. We were stopped by employees who scanned our HHN passes, and then allowed us to procede without a word on where to go. We headed back by the benches, where others were waiting, and took at seat. After a while, we saw a few people enter the Screamhouse queue and so we decided to enter the queue too. We waited in the queue for about 5 to 10 minutes before they started letting people in.

thanks for answering my question.

the first 2 weekends for hhn are good crowds and only packed on the sundays. when frequent fear pass came out, they sold llke hot cakes!!
thus making sunday a no longer small crowd night.

no wristbands are issued for the beginning of the month for hhn but then, the crowds at that point are nothing like the end of the month.

the week after, hell week they call it, i left, hhn did have some changes.
that 3rd weekend some rides in IOA were open due to the large crowds.
this helped dispurse some people from the studios.

robosaurus did not open until hell week. that i missed by leaving on columbus day. in years past, other changes happen once the crowds swell at the end of the month's events. one thursday was extended on hours.
last years saturday night was extended with bill and ted having an additional show.

i don't mind missing out on those extras as the crowds are manageable with the express pass when i go.

i can imagine the lines for the RR are long when the park is at capacity.

last year on a sunday night, i did have longer waits in line for the houses.
one house was a 25 minute wait with the ep.

i ususally get 4 houses done before the general public is let in.
i stand in lines that are 25 minutes and under before i start to use my ex pass. that way i can do each house twice before the closing of the park.

i only do a few rides on hhn nights. i do the rides and shows during the day

i remember that night very well. the sunday before columbus day.

i was to meet someone at the stay and scream area.
i got to the park later than planned at 4:57 and was stopped when i tried to enter the studios by cops. they were helping set up the metal detectors.
i tried to explain i was to meet friends and had the hhn ticket.

an employee told me i had to wait until the detectors were set up and enter at 6:00 or was that 6:30? anyway, they said i could not enter.
just then a group of 5-6 people tried to walk around me and both employees/cop went to stop them as they would not stop walking.
as they went after them, i walked to the left towards lost and found and then ran down the street.
i was stopped near finnegans and told i had to stay there.
did get to talk them into lettting me go to amity to check on a friend i was to meet but they scanned my ticket then.

at amity i was told i had to go back to finnegans or leave the park so i did after finding my friend over there.

i did see one or two being escorted out of the park for no ticket when i was walking back. and did have my ticket checked again on the walk back to finnegans.

a lot of security that night and don't know why.

stayed at finnegans outside the front of it and a lot of us were complaining on why the hold up.

we could see some people in line for the house at the far end but our group at finnegans in the front was not allowed to leave unless we left the park.

when i got in line for the house, still a wait as it did not open in time as the other 2 did.

i thought i knew it all until that night..............
should have gone to amity wait area from the get go and could have avoided the crowds that were waiting.

i always learn something new each trip.

ahhhh, it warms my heart to see HHN talk this early :)
It also makes me think crowds are gonna be even *worse* this year!!!!

"a lot of security that night don't know why."

I heard it was somthing about a crazed woman sneaking past security:rotfl2:

mental note for this year" wear running shoes!"

Is Jaws open during the party. I really want to ride this at night. If it's open, does anyone know how long the lines would be.

Jaws will only be open depending on where HHN is held. If it is at the Studio again or if both parks are open and Jaws in the part of the Studios where Jaws is located then it should be open.

This past year when I was there on Saturday they were begging people to come ride it cause the wait was so short. It was a 10 minute for standby and it was a walk on with Express.

Riding Jaws at night is amazing. When me & my friend got off of it, we said "That was better then some of the Haunted houses."

Probably depends on the time. We had about a 10 minute wait with express. Standby looked to be about a 30 or 40 minute wait. This wasn't too long after the first Bill and Ted's ended so that probably explains the longer wait times.

Same thing with us and Jaws. They were asking people that walked by to come ride Jaws! I recall that and at the time thought it was funny. This was on Friday the 13th and the place was packed! Riding Jaws at night is so awesome and its the first thing we get excited about when we know we'll be in the parks after dark.

We had the same thing with Jaws - the employees were out front trying to get people to ride. We rode it and it was neat at night...

Jaws at night is awesome--the shark looks more realistic in the lower light, and the fire effects are more impressive. Went several nights in 2006 and there always seemed to be someone on a bullhorn saying, "shortest line in the park."

That's great. We wouldn't want to use an express pass for Jaws, as we will need them for the houses.

I a have another question. I thought I read somewhere that Universal has the lisense to many major horror film characters. Will we see any of them at HHN. I'm wondering about the recent horror film characters too, like Freddy, Jason & Mike Myers.

It's possible depending on however they decide to theme their houses. I think it was about 2 years ago when they had Michael Myers in one of the houses. And then last year they had the killer guy from the Scream movies and Samara from The Ring and some other well known killers. I'm sure they will have some characters from horror films this year, too.

Your HHN express pass grants you access to each house and attraction once, so using express pass with Jaws won't prevent you from using it at a house. What you could do is if the Jaws' standby line is short, save the express pass to use later if you wanted to reride Jaws when it had a longer standby line.

The way express pass works is that you get a ticket that uses the same ticket stock as your park ticket, except it's labeled 'Express Pass'. Then when you use it to enter the express lane, an attendent will hole punch your express pass. I believe that each house and attraction has their own hole puncher that's different from the others. Looking at my used express, I had a star, triangle, diamond and pentagon punch, and someone else used a black marker to mark my express pass.

That's possible but HHN is usually a themed event and so they go with costumes to match their themes. For example at last year's event, one scare zone was populated by vampires, another by zombies, and a third by pumpkinheads.

for the last three years of hhn, they had one restriction on using the express pass for attractions.

only the first show of the night of bill and ted's adventure could you use the express pass.

2 years ago one employee made an exception and let me use the ep for the second showing of B & T though. i was lucky that night but wouldn't count on it happening again.

the first show of the night is usually the less crowded show for it.

I find that most resteraunts that are open do not have scareactors in them. We went to the I think Monster cafe where they serve pizza and was dead no scareactors. no scareactors in bathrooms. I think most scareactors are in the scarezones and not much elsewhere.

I am so excited to go - DH was very sad last year when there were no wenches writhing on the platforms as in previous years. When we went I think 2003 to IOA he stood infront of them for like a half hour so sick!!

I really like the chainsaw brigade guys I hope they are back again.

And the bubbles in the street at marvel were so fun!!!!

We plan on going Thursday Oct 18 plan on putting both kids in daycare
at Camp Portofino 6 and 12. Next year when dd turns 13 we plan on taking her if she wants.

We are hoping to catch Blue man group Fri Oct 19, hopefully it is playing that night - then off to Disney cruise. What a vacation:yay:

Lola2, i think you are talking about the foam that was in IOA that year.
they haven't had it since then.

yea, it was way kewl............

adkar, i have not been to any hhn in the mid to end of october.

for the 1st and 2nd weekends, no wristbands are given out at s& s.

the black bands you mentioned, was that for a promo??? and it was at the end of the hhn season?

can you give more 411 on that? is that part of the VIP touring? i did one tour where i received a wristband but it wasn't during the evening event.
i'm curious ...i'll stick around until i hear from you.
i always interested in learning about hhn on what happens to others.
lot of us have different experiences and i love to learn more
I found my wristband and thought I'd put a pic on here for ya!
