Planning to attend Halloween Horror night

I need to know also, which is better Friday night or Sunday night?

you pay more for a peak night, friday than a non peak night, sundays.

but, the park is opened until 2 am on fridays and closes down at midnight on sundays.

if it were me and i had to choose one night between those two, it would be friday if it were in the beginning of the month.

i have not gone at the end of the month due to crowds are big the entire weekend then.

It's possible depending on however they decide to theme their houses. I think it was about 2 years ago when they had Michael Myers in one of the houses. And then last year they had the killer guy from the Scream movies and Samara from The Ring and some other well known killers. I'm sure they will have some characters from horror films this year, too.

Yeah they used several for the All Night Die In in 2003 then again this past year for Take 2. Back in '03 I wondered about the licencing issue and asked about it when we did the Behind the Screams tour last year. Turns out they do not have any licencing rights which is why the names of the characters or movies are never mentioned.

We come down from Canada for HHN every year and absolutely love the event. We've already bought our plane tickets and booked our hotel. We usually take the RIP tour our first night there which is always the Sunday of your Columbus Day (our Thanksgiving) weekend and express passes for another 2 or 3 nights along with our frequent fear passes. The Behind the Screams Tour was well worth the money and hopefully they'll bring it back (has anyone heard any rumors??). We haven't gone on a peak night since '03 but from what we've heard about the increase in crowds we wouldn't do it again. We're quite happy going mid-week.

The Documentary from SpendusWorks is fantastic. We think Joe did a phenomenal job on it and are quite grateful he's made it available for everyone.

We tried HOS for the first time last year and enjoyed it but still prefer HHN. I'd agree with those who suggest HOS might be a better alternative for the kids not quite ready for HHN. Like others have said though, whether or not the event is suitable for kids is really subjective. At 12 I would have loved the event but I can think of many 12 yr olds who would not be able to handle it. What others have already suggested to the OP is what I'd recommend...do your research, watch the videos of past years, and decide for yourself since you know your kid better than anyone else.

As for safe zones, there aren't any designated safe zones however it's fairly certain you'll be safe from the scareactors anywhere outside the scare zones. It's funny it was mentioned about there not being any scareactors in the restaurants. When there was a shift change at the Psychoscarapy house in '03 the entire cast had to go through the counter service restaurant at Jurassic Park...it was quite an amusing sight.

I was quite drunk when we went to use the restroom and sat down for some nachos. I was sitting there minding my own business when all of a sudden a hand reached down grabbed a nacho and put it near my mouth. I looked up to see a "gentleman" grinning down at me....along with about four others all running towards me. Lets say that was the smallest plate of nachos that I ever dumped on the ground as I ran towards the bathroom.

Thanks, all! - I'll advise the kids for Friday :thumbsup2 - only problem is that they will be up early that morning for AK before we switch over to USF.
Looks like only DD and her DBF may be going this year - oldest DD is already chickening out (she left very early last time - go figure, she's the one who loves scary movies, but she admitted she got 'freaked')- Since I was staying behind with her DD and my sis, maybe I'll decide to check it out this year myself :scared1: - maybe not! - well, we'll see. Where can I find info on the RIP tours? If I go, I may have to break out the big bucks for a little peace of mind - is it any less scary if you do a tour? Will the tour guide protect/reassure me and/or keep me from peeing my pants?!!:rotfl: No kidding, I even hate scary movies!

if you take that tour, you are guaranteed of getting good seats for bill and teds show and seeing all the houses without waiting forever in line.

the group stays toether and goes in the express line for the houses as a group. also, they don't show up until about 20 minutes prior to the bill and ted show, those bleacher seats are reserved in advance.

its pricey and you are in a group where you won't really know everyone.

if you don't want to pay the high price, you can buy the express pass for hhn and do the houses and rides at the time you want.

i have done the "unmask the horror" tour and liked it.
you go inside 3 houses with all the lights on and can see all the detail and learn of some background 411 on it. also get to see the museum of past hhns

that tour is done in the daytime either at 11 or 2 on certain dates only.

i have thought of doing the rip tour for a change but i can see everything i want to and buy my own water much cheaper.

The RIP tours are usually announced along with regular ticket sales for HHN around July. And no, it's not less scary on a tour - you have a group of about 10-15 people who, with a guide from US, get front of the line access to all the houses and the Bill & Ted show. And it isn't cheap at around $120/per person but if you're interested, keep an eye on the US and/or HHN website for tickets.

Thanks! is that price all inclusive, or do you still need to buy a party ticket?

No the price isn't all inclusive. On non-peak nights the cost of the tour in '06 was $100 on top of your HHN pass and on peak nights it was $140. The daytime behind the scenes tour was $35 on top of your HHN pass.

If you're there for one night only the RIP tour is a great way to ensure you see everything regardless of the crowds. The downside is you are on someone else's schedule so you do the houses in their order and if you get the same tour guide we had, you'll end up moving through the scare zones at a sprint. We got stuck with a guide who was quite the chicken and did not like the scare zones at all. As a result if there was something we wanted to take a picture of or get a second look at we were SOL. It wasn't a big deal to us because we were going back for three more nights but we'd have been quite ticked if that was our only night.

We did the tour on Friday the 13th. We also attended by ourselves 2 days later with express passes. The RIP tour was SO much better! We are for sure repeating that again this year. It wasnt any less scary and actually more scary cause he knew where, when, and how to guide us to the BEST spots. Sorry no the guide wont protect you and some actually feed off your fear! :scared1: I scare easily and HHN freaked me out with fear but, I wanna go back!

When do the tickets go on sale? Do they ever sell out?

All of the tickets go on sale early in the summer (June/July)...just keep watching the HHN website.

As for sellouts, it varies from year to year and also depends on which tickets you're looking at. The basic event tickets rarely sell out on non-peak nights but they do sometimes sell out on peak nights (but not until the night of the event). Generally, the later in the month you go the larger the crowds are. Express passes for peak nights do tend to sell out in advance and some of the non-peak nights sell out as well. The tours have quite limited space and from what I was told when we booked ours last year they tend to fill up fairly quickly.

Judging from last year, no tickets never sell out. One night it was reported that they had over 50,000 people in the parks...they had to open Seuss Landing and Marvel to keep the crowds from rioting.
But I cant help but feel wrong talking about ticket prices and selling out dates in Feb.

Tickets sold out last year for 1 or 2 nights. They should have been classified sold out a lot more nights but Universal would rather get in trouble with the Fire Marshall then loose out on $$$

Anyone know which month we will prob find out which park HHN is at?
