I've decided that once summer comes, I am going to start planning in earnest for our November trip. Do any of you use any specific computer programs or have any other tips for organizing all of your PS's, itineraries, ideas, budgets, etc. I have been storing all of this stuff in a very messy Excel file, but I think there probably is a better way.

Honestly, I just make notes the old fashioned way.

The week prior to our Thanksgiving week trip last November, parts of Connecticut were hit with an incredible ice storm. We were without power for four days.

I had no computer to access for my last minute planning!

I like to keep my intinerary online, but I also keep a hard copy and a folder. That way all of my information is in two places (I can sympathize with you, Penny. I am in the Northwest Corner of CT). This way, you always have a back up.

As far as budgeting, I like to keep envelopes which, for example, are labeled mousekeeping, airfare, hotel, park passes, transfers, etc. I put the total that I will need on the outside and then I continuously add funds to them and keep track of it that way. I am a very compulsive planner, but hey, planning is half the fun! I would never go without a plan.

Enjoy planning your trip!
