Planning session

We just got our planner Meri... Yay!!! But I have a question regarding tge planning session. I read some where that they take place 6 months before the wedding date. But in our packet it seems like they want us to book now (our date is 12/8/12). Can we do it before the 6 month mark? Also... Do they do menu tastings with the planning session anymore? I am really wanting to do one since I've heard mixed reviews on the plated meal we are thinking of using and there are pre-reception appetizers that we are having trouble agreeing on.
Oh and one more question... For the rehearsal... We are not having bridesmaid and groomsmen but I'd still like to do a rehearsal since we plan on doing a unity candle and that way jeff and I know exactly what to do... Can they be done the day before our wedding? Are they usually done at certain times? Since most of the family will be arriving that day.

You can do it before the 6 month mark but pricing isn't guaranteed until then so you won't get your BEO until you're in the 6 month mark. They do menu tastings but you have to request it. It is usually done on the same day as your planning session. You planning packet includes a spot to request a rehearsal date/time. They are flexible but it might not be in your ceremony location if there is an event going on.
