Planning question--

I am a DVC member and always go to wdw right after Thanksgiving/ first week in Dec. It is a great time to go --- lower crowds, etc. I also sometimes go at beg. of Feb. -- this year there were good wdw hotel specials at that time -- I had moderate resort for around $99.

My brother is thinking about going at end of October/ first few days in Nov (his kids have 2 teacher inservice days Nov 1&2). Is this a good or bad time to go? I haven't been at that time for years.... rates for moderate resort are at coming up at $160 --- which seems high to me.

Plus -- he's got 3 kids (8, 7 &7) so he technically needs a room that will allow 5 (rollaway?).

Any suggestions?

I've heard that POR allows 5 in some of the rooms. They have a small trundle bed. Another option might be for your brother to get 2 rooms at a value resort, like the All-Stars or Pop Century. The discount codes for that time haven't been released, yet. There may or may not be any codes, but it might be worthwhile to keep your eyes open.

I've gone in early October before. The crowds are usually not bad at all, just watch around Columbus Day. That is time when quite a few people will be choosing to have a wonderful Disney vacation, so the parks may be a little more crowded. But Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is worth the trip!

The party requires a separate ticket, but very much worth it!

It's not like the crowds in January (they are very small), but it's not horrible.

as far as accomodations w/three kids goes... he may want to look into booking two separate reservations... one w/one adult and one kid and another w/the other adult and other two kids, requesting connecting rooms... it came up cheaper for us to do it that way...

sorry, i know nothing about crowds that time of year though...
