here you are Jaime and Oscar her boss! Circa 1977...5th grade...oops!lol

03-04-2008 - I can't get my mind off the food!

Arrival Day-no parks, explore resort, rest, swim, etc:
Roaring Forks - 1 CS (could be moved to departure day, depending on flight times)
Dinner: 'Ohana - 1 TS

Hollywood Studios Day:
Lunch: 50's Prime Time - 1 TS
Dinner: Mama Melrose - 1 TS

No parks day, DTD (Festival of the Masters), swim, relax, "Magic Makers". etc:
Lunch: Earl of Sandwich - 1 CS
Dinner: Whispering Canyon Cafe - 1 TS

Looking at your ADRs I'd try for cake at either Ohana, Prime Time, or Whispering Canyon Cafe.

On another note Earl of Sandwich really is awesome!

Loving your pre-trippie. We leave in 2 days for a quick 3-day trip (live 2 hours away) and reading your pre-trip is getting me very hungry:). When you were there last, did you have a Dole Whip at MK or Poly. You must get one. I had my first one last Sept and have been dreaming of them since:lmao: Our first trip with our DD was when she was 6 month and the stroller from home was a must for us and very helpful. Even the tray on it. A lot of times, she would snack/eat when we were in line for something. Your DS is so cute.

It was $33.00, the filling was just boring frosting, DH is finicky, I've seen what looks like a fabulous strawberries and cream filling on the cake thread. The cake was really good and we didn't even eat any of it until two days later.

I've seen the strawberries and cream filling too - it looks soooooo good! Thank you for sharing the price-I felt sorta rude asking, but was too curious not to! I'm glad to hear it was tasty, even a couple days later!

I can't see your pics, but...:lmao: You are too funny!

Great advice! I was thinking Ohana or WCC too - but Prime Time with cake could be really fun! After thinking more about it yesterday, I might get two cakes, one for DS, birthday cake, and another for DH, anniversary...

Oscar Goldman to be exact! Just don't ask me how old I was when the Bionic Woman was on TV!:rolleyes1

Edited post above

I didn't try a Dole Whip, I didn't even know about them! (Or if I had read about them, I forgot) it is on my list for this trip though!! I don't know if DH would like them, he's not huge on pineapple, but SIGN ME UP! :woohoo:

That is a great idea about the tray w/ food to keep them busy during wait times. I think the strollers we have been looking at do have trays...I'll have to double check!

And thank you for the complients on my little guy. :goodvibes

(I totally missed your orginal post, so no worries on being embarassed, but I'm SUPER curious to know what you wrote! )

I can't believe I am about to admit this, but I was typing so fast on the original post, I typed DH, instead of DS (even though I was commenting on your son). :rotfl:

04-03-2008 - Backup Plans Needed

I realized yesetrday, since I will be in NYC when I am making our ADRs, I should have some backup plans in place, just in case I can't get an ADR I have planned. My friend, who we are staying with, has internet and a computer I can use while we are there; however, I don't want to have to frantically search through reviews and make a decision on the fly.

So, after some thought, here is what I've come up with:
Arrival Day-no parks, explore resort, rest, swim, etc:
Roaring Forks - 1 CS (could be moved to departure day, depending on flight times)
Dinner: 'Ohana - 1 TS
2nd Choice: Whispering Canyon - 1 TS

Animal Kingdom Day:
Lunch: Yak & Yeti, AK - 1 TS
2nd Choice: Tusker House - 1 TS
Dinner: Wolfgang Pucks Express - 1 CS

Epcot Day:
Lunch: Sunshine Seasons - 1 CS
Dinner: LeCellier - 1 TS
2nd Choice: Tutto Italia (if it's still open?) / Coral Reef / Tokyo Dining? / Chefs de France? - 1 TS

Hollywood Studios Day:
Lunch: 50's Prime Time - 1 TS
2nd Choice: Mama Melrose (change dinner), Hollywood & Vine? - 1 TS
Dinner: Mama Melrose - 1 TS
2nd Choice: 50's Prime Time (no Fantasmic package - and only if we didn't get it for lunch...), Hollywood & Vine? - 1 TS

No parks day, DTD (Festival of the Masters), swim, relax, "Magic Makers". etc:
Lunch: Earl of Sandwich - 1 CS
Dinner: Whispering Canyon Cafe - 1 TS
2nd Choice: 'Ohana (if we didn't already get it already), Raglan Road, Chef Mickey's? - 1 TS

Magic Kingdom Day:
Lunch: Columbia Harbor House - 1 CS
GARDEN ROOM TEA!!!! (OOP)
Dinner: Cosmic Rays - 1 CS

Going home day:
Breakfast: Kona (OOP)
2nd Choice: Boma (OOP)

As you can see, I didn't make any solid decisions...I probably won't, but then on the fly make a decision from the choices I laid out here. Hopefully I'll just get all our top choices! :)

Thank goodness you have a sense of humor. I now preview all posts before I post:rolleyes1

What is the Garden Room Tea?

 It is totally something I would do as well!! :)

Garden Room Tea is served daily at the Grand Floridian. There are several tea offerings you can choose from, along with an ala carte menu - all sound fantastic. Here is a link to the allears menu: http://www.allears.net/menu/menu_gft.htm I'm super excited about doing this!

04-03-2008 - Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary!

As you all know, I want to surprise my DH with an anniversary cake....and while I'm at it, gonna have a birthday cake for DS too. One can never have too much cake on vacation!

I am thinking I'll do the Anniversary cake at Mama Melrose. DHS was DH's favorite park, plus it'll be a "magical" night doing the Fantasmic dinner package, and I maybe we'll just get gelato for dessert with our dinner and have the cake. (Chances are, I won't be able to bypass the tiramisu though!)

Then, for Henry's 1 year birthday celebration, I think Whispering Canyon would be great (I was thinking this, then Chel mentioned it to-so, it helped make it the place!) I was gonna do 'Ohana, but with that probably being our travel day, I don't want to have Henry melting down during his birthday celebreation...:rolleyes1

I am just going to do the 6" cakes for both...I am a tad unclear on if these can be customized, or how all that goes. I just want something basic-a nice "Happy Anniversary my love!" and "Happy 1st Birthday Henry!" or something similar. I would LOVE the chocolate mousse filling and all that, but I doubt it's available for a 6" cake.

Now, my last question that I have yet to find is, when do I order the cakes? Anyone know? I have seen a whole slew of answers-make them with the ADRs, make them 1 week before your trip, 72 hours in advance... If no one knows, I'll attempt on my ADR day-just gotta be sneaky because DH will be around!

I'm not sure about the timing of ordering cakes. I had our travel agent do it. I know that she called the restaurants directly and did not go through the cake hotline. Wherever you have the cake keep in mind what you are going to do after that meal because you will have a cake box to carry around.

Hi just popping in here. I remember you from the Jambo thread that I have not visited in a while *put bag over head*. You had you honeymoon at AKL and had amazing pictures. You son is so cute.

We just had a birthday at WC for my sisters 50th. I called 48 hours prior to the trip and ordered the cake. IPO at WL said if you do it to early you are just setting yourself up for a mistake. I hope that helps. There was a standard cake I could have writing on and then the one you custom order. This cake was huge and we threw most of it away. I think next time we would just do the standard cake. It was so yummy but way to much and like I said landed in the trash can.

WCC was over the top and we had a blast celebrating there. You will love it.:thumbsup2 Half of our grand gathering is staying at Wilderness Lodge and we are staying at CR and will be there when you are. I will keep an eye out to see if we run into each other. Just look for the huge gathering of crazy people in the lobby of WL. LOL. :rotfl:

I love all you dinner choices you are doing a fantasic job of making me very hungry.

Ressies look great. I doubt you'll have trouble getting the ressies. I did mine between 4-6 months out and had no trouble at all and we have many of the same restaurants.

That is some good advice - we will have the stroller with a basket, but also have all the necessary baby gear, so the cake box might not even fit!

Thank you for the advice on the cake! The 48 hours deal makes sense...I'll have to mark it on my calendar. And, I'm glad to hear WCC is a good place to celebrate!

I will keep my eyes peeled for a crazy gathering in the lobby. :rotfl2: You can see our pics on page 1 of this thread-I might get a LGMH or something to add to my bag too...not sure yet!

And thank you for the compliments on my pictures from our Honeymoon trip! :goodvibes

Well, it's good to know I'm not the only one!

04-10-2008 - Toffee Bars & Baby Strollers

Today is my DH's 30th birthday! Yahoo!!!! Tomorrow we are going for teppanyaki at a great place in Minneapolis. I'm super, super excited and might post a couple pics. Today, we are working. :sad2: But! I am surprising him with little things all day. He woke up to a "Happy Birthday" banner hanging in the dining room, followed by a surprise of cold Mocha Frappachinos in the fridge, he found a "Happy Birthday" balloon in his shower, got a card on his keyboard of his computer and I'm gonna pull out some candy and another card from Henry shortly. It's fun giving him little surprises all day long!

Tonight, I am making him toffee bars. They will be his 'cake' for tomorrow after dinner. They are from a box, but do take quite sometime to make-so the effort is there! Besides, he loves them so, so very much.

He has gotten about 95 phone calls today from everyone from his sister to our insurance agency wishing him a Happy Birthday.

Baby stroller...we finally ordered one! :yay: We already have our huge Graco, but this new one is only nine pounds and has a carrying handle, a sun shade, a child tray, a nice sized basket and an adult cup holder - ideal for NYC and Disney. Thank you to DisneyBride for showing me the site-here is the one we got, for $89.99 + only $4.95 for shipping!! Love that shipping price!!!
albee-baby_1993_50574627.gif

(DisneyBride-I was gonna get a different color because they didn't have this one, I loved your red one and when I saw this yesterday, I couldn't resist-nice and bright!)

I would like to either make, or purchase, a little sign or something for it that IDs it as our stroller as well. I once read a TR that someone fashioned a Mickey head that would light up and hung it from their stroller-that would be very cool....

I'm being messaged at work, better get back to it. :headache:
