OK, I don't want to come over as some kind of heretic, but my gang and I plan to go to either USF or IOA for New years Eve rather than Disney.

I'm told it's extremely unliklely that, as sometimes happens at WDW, they will have to close the gates due to the parks being full. So, the idea is to go early on the day as per a normal park day, do as much of the stuff we want as possible taking the likely crowds into account - we have Flex tickets so we can always go back later on a quieter day if we dont get it all done first time there. Then we plan to leave the park around early evening - say 4/5 pm, to go back to the condo, chill, change, maybe get a swim in, and then to go back to Universal for the celebrations around 8.30 - 9pm.

I went to USF for New Years about 9 years ago, and although it was busy, it was by no means unbearable. Of course I haven't a clue whether it will be buser now, or whether the extra capacity of IOA and Citywalk wil make it less crowded than before.

Can anyone who's done NYE at USF/IOA in the last few years, give me some idea as towhat to expect crowd wise, and should I think in terms of booking a restaurant in park or at Citywalk rather than brave the scrum in the park ? I'd hate to miss the likely fireworks, so we had been planning to just camp out a spot in the park and wait.

What do you's think ?

Thanks.

If you can get a booking ( and that's a BIG IF !!! ) the only place I'd recommend for sit-down meal would be Mythos at IOA. USF/IOA certainly can't compete with WDW for "better " restaurants, they're more diner/cafe style.

Can't speak for Citywalk...............but you'd be pretty lucky to get a booking at this stage!!

Certainly you wouldn't be disappointed at Mythos...we did it twice this holiday....always a great place to eat with excellent food ( and not overly expensive )

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the reply mate. I looked into Mythos and it sounds like just what we are looking for.

I called and we have a ressy for 10.30pm on New Years Eve ! Cool, it should be a great evening !

Well thats just about the last of the planning done. All our tickets are here, the cases will be coming own out of the loft this weekend, and we'll be on our only-a-week-now countdown from tomorrow AM...

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !!!
