Is it o.k. to ask here what people a offering? I am thinking it is not since I can't seem to find any posts about offers!! I was also looking at the list of contracts that were passed and not passed, it looks like there is nothing since 07 that has NOT passed for BCV. We want to offer a reasonable offer but of course are looking for our best deal. Thanks for any help!!

I am not aware of any prohibition against providing what a buyer actually offerred and paid but I think most would generally avoid doing so including because (a) they prefer not revealing their own deal, and (b) someday they may be sellers and prefer not seeing every buyer saying what they actually paid when it comes time to their being a seller.

The best place to look here on the DIS is the ROFR thread, but you have to look at the last (or next to last) page for the most current info.

Also, depending on which broker you use, they may or may not have a pretty good idea of what will clear ROFR.

I know when I purchased through the Timeshare Store (sponsor of this forum), I wanted to offer a certain price but they told me it probably would not clear ROFR. I raised my offer $1 and cleared. Within a week, two other offers were ROFR'd at exactly what I originally wanted to offer...so I got very good advice from TTS.

There is nothing worse than seeing someone lose a contract they really love for $2-300!

2nd the notion of talking to your broker and also not missing out on the contract you want for $2-300. The first contract we bid on had an asking price of about $66 per point (SSR) but from looking thru the ROFR thread I thought that was going to be cutting it too close and didn't want to lose this one. We actually bid $68 (naturally the seller was more than happy to accept more money :lmao:) as $65-$67 seemed to be a very uncertain area for our particular contract. Found out on Thursday that we passed, but unfortunately have also seen a few postings from people that had Disney buy back their contracts.

I agree that you want to get the best deal and you should definitely do everything you can to achieve that, but remember if the deal is *too* good Disney may think the same thing and take it back from you:scared1:

Good luck,

Chris

Several years ago, Beca (who maintained the ROFR thread for a LONG time!) made the following very accurate observation: "The best deal is the one with your name on it!"

Agree (again) with Jim. Someone else will always buy a dollar or two cheaper than you, or sell a dollar or two higher than you. You just need to make sure that your bid of $XX is in the area that *should* clear ROFR and is within your budget. Don't get soooooo caught it in buying at the lowest price that you completely miss out on buying the contract you want at a great price (at least great prices for buyers).

So as an example, I paid $68 per point, but I've seen others that have paid $65 per point which would seem better, except that the $68 per point is MINE and I get to use it :rotfl:

Good luck - and if the sellers accept your first (or second, or third) offer make sure to post on the ROFR thread.

I agree with talking to your broker. The first resale contract I attempted was at the asking price on the day it was listed. We had a problem with an overseas seller not processing paperwork promptly that killed that deal. On our current resale contract, we actually did a little bit of bargaining; sellers were very agreeable and located in the US. the per point price is a bit higher than what has been ROFR'd, and Disney does have points available in our use year as well. Hoping we pass!
