Are there any books or websites out there that can help with planning on covering the parks....Something like Birnbaum, we'll be going to WDW in July and thought we would go over to US/IOA for a couple of days for something different....I realize there are plenty of great benefits to staying on site but the DW won't go for it so we'll have to go early each day or just cover one of the parks and go one day....any feedback is appreciated

If you could talk him into one nights stay you would get 2 days worth of FOTL. The time you would save would be well worth it. And you could spend the second night off site. This is a great investment for the time which you would spend at universal. You could do much more in two days worth of FOTL than you could without it.

Now that I have become spoiled with FOTL i am onsite all the way. My trip becomes more relaxed and I know I won't have the 2 hour waits like the general population.

but if all else fails and you can not talk him into it. Find out where the singles lines are for all the major rides. I know doctor doom has a singles line, men in black has a singles line, and I am sure there are many more. Plus don't forget to get your free express passes for participating rides. You can knock tons of time off your wait by utilizing the singles line

About Books

I like the "everything books..." the one about disney and universal attractions is really easy to read. And it has a before you go chapter. YOU can find them at your local book store just ask for the everything book for Disney World ( It also explains Universal). If they don't have it in stock they will order it for you.
I also like the econoguide --Printed yearly-- and, Fodor's travel guide for disneyworld and greater orlando. Any of these would be great to have. Myself as the perpetual planner that I am get a new one every year. If you are going to disney world try this one "Walt Disney World-- The Essential Guide to Amazing Vacations" by Rita Aero's. This is a great book with detailed info on dining options.

You should check out the Econo guidebook. I was looking at it, and it has a lot of good information in it.

I would also suggest looking at this website and the message board, and checking out IOACentral.com for information. You can't beat the information you can find out in the message boards from people who have experienced the parks. I've learned a TON from reading all the different posts on here and at IOACentral.

Good luck
