Hi

I'm looking at doing a trip to Disneyland Paris next summer.

I've 'done' disney in Florida when i was a kid (am now 26)

I plan to do the trip on my own, but am finding many of the major tour operators charge through the nose (and the roof) for independant travellers!

So i'm looking at doing it as 'separates'. As in book train (am planning on going from London to Disney by Eurostar, as this is easier for me as a non-driver) and hotel as separate things.

What i am after is advice on what is the best approach and how to get the best value for money.

Roz :thumbsup2

Hi Roz

We booked our hotel package directly with the resort (you can do it online or by phone) and our flights and transfers seperately. It actually saved us quite a lot :thumbsup2
You can book eurostar seperately, check out their web site, sorry but not sure of the link.

The summer prices for DLRP aren't out yet though, I think they come out in January, but not sure

We've booked 8 times, seven times as a package and one time booking things seperately - that time was far cheaper. We booked the hotel through the DLRP website and the Eurostar tickets through the Eurostar website - saved over £100 compared to the package deals.

Hi Roz and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, posting guidelines can be found here and details regarding help on signatures here

Great plan to book separately. Have a look at the Useful Info sticky at the top of the board for some links :thumbsup2

Hi Roz, welcome to the DIS! :welcome:

Did you want to stay at one of the Disney hotels or one of the offsite ones?

Thanks for all the welcomes

I am thinking (but haven't fully decided yet) at staying at a Disney Hotel because:

* i don't drive, so it'll be easy to use the shuttle service between hotel and attractions

* i've never stayed at a Disney hotel/resort before - as when i went to Disney Florida, i went with family and we always had villas.

But, open to suggestions

Roz

As a solo visitor can I suggest the Cheyenne Hotel?

While the theming is great for kids (and adults, but they play area and fort is particulalry great for kids, I'd imagine!) I think the bar will be perfect for a solo adult as they have a house country and western band called The Thrifts so the bar has a lively atmosphere with entertainment.

Just wondering - if you stay in a disney resort/hotel, are you able to share/use the facilities in the other resorts - ie swimming pool, if the one you stay in doesn't have one, or the restaurants etc?

Roz

HI Roz
as regards swimming pools, you can only use the ones that are at the Hotel you are staying at. If my memory serves me well, the Santa Fe and Cheyenne dont have pools. You can eat lunch and dinner at other hotels restaurants
regards
P.

I'm surprised that booking parts separately seems to be cheaper for people? Both times we went we priced up individual components -hotel and tickets direct with Disney, then Eurostar/tunnel with Eurostar/tunnel and then got a price from Leisure Direction or Clippers Quay. Both times they got us the package much cheaper. They book directly with Disney and Eurotunnel, so it's not a "package" as in with a tour operator, but on both occasions the travel part of our trip was in effect free.

For example, our first trip for 3 nights at Santa Fe in Jan 2006 would have been £240 for the room direct with Disney, then £120 for the crossing booking direct with Eurotunnel. With Leisure Direction we paid £280 for the lot including a character breakfast.

Wonderul when you get a bargain, isn't it! :goodvibes
I think your post just proves how important it is to spend time "crunching numbers" before booking each trip!
