I have read that you cannot reserve a DVC until 11 months prior to your desired month. Should we look for reservations in February '09 or wait until the last minute (AKA December '09)?

Book a reservation at your home resort 11 months prior (Feb '09), switch it to a different resort if you'd like at 7 months prior ... but never wait for the last minute!

If you already know when you want to go, book it as soon as you can. I am already thinking about Feb 2010.

We have 2009's three trips already planned out, and now we are already talking about 2010. With the 11 month window, it's almost never too early :)

Planning your trips is as exciting as going on the trips to many people on these boards.

We will get on it ASAP.

Our DDiL wants to run in in the 1/2 marathon in January '10. We're booking in February!!! We've asked people about a VB/WDW vacation for June of that year, and have received at least one affirmative!

I have the date circled and highlighted in my 2009 planner!

April 4, 2009: Call MS and make reservation for April 4-10, 2010 at AKV, 2BR standard!:dance3:

Oh, and cancel June 7-11, 2009 if we couldn't get a deal on airfare:sad1: .

OP sounds like they may not be a member but are looking for a rental. In that case, you should start looking on the rent trade board here no later than Jan 09 to find someone to rent from who can then call to make the ressie in Feb 09 for Jan 2010.

And Kristenrice, you cannot call April 4, 2009 to reserve April 4-10, 2010, and yes, I also often have a problem with math when it comes to figuring out when I am 11 (not 12) months out.

Oops! My bad...I knew that...it is, in fact, May 4. 2009 that I have marked on my calendar:lmao:. It's just a few days before the cancellation (without penalty) deadline for my June reservation.

where can I get more info on the 1/2 marathon?

It's never too early to plan. We have our March '09 all set, I will call soon for our November '09 trip and I have the dates set for our May '10 trip. You can see all those in my countdown banners.

So I know I can't legitimately plan my trips until 11 months prior, but I'm making all other plans accordingly! I'm a geek.

February 2009 - BWV
June 2010 - AKV
December 2011 - VWL or OKW

I actually have ideas about 2012 (HHI or VB) and 2013 (Hawaii) but my husband would really think I've lost all my marbles if I brought those up! :-)

Here's to all the long term planners out there! May we see our plans to fruition! :-)

We book at home resort 11 months out and look to switch at the 7 month mark, if we want a different resort (not a usual thing for us, we LOVE our home resorts), but I would suggest this.

To us, it's never too early ;) We book asap! I've got two upcoming trips for 09, possibly going for 12/09, and already thinking about 6/10:cool1: :cool1:

Planning keeps me sane :lmao:

Why wait till the last minute? If you know your dates, Guarantee your place! If you want something other than your home resort, you can switch it at the 7 month window. If there's no room at least you still have your home resort to fall back on!
