Hi everyone, I am new. I am planning a trip to DL in the spring and I am hoping to stay onsite but the prices at Candy Cane are really tempting.

My question is for those who have done both (onsite and off) is there a HUGE noticeable difference in your overall enjoyment of your trip? Do you come back from offsite thinking you should have stayed at one of the Disney hotels? or do you have a great time anyway?

Thank you! :flower3:

I think that you will find people on both sides of the issue. There are definitely people who are "onsite or nothing". But, you will also find many people who are loyal to several different off site hotels, including Candy Cane Inn, Hojo Anaheim and Desert Inn among others.

It all depends on what you are looking for. Ask yourself some questions: Are you a theme park commando who does open to close every day? Do you like to go back to your room for a break? Are you looking to spend some downtime at the hotel for pool or spa time? How many people are going to be in your room? Do you need a kids suite or other adjoining room situation? Are you looking to have a continental breakfast included in your room cost, and if so, are you looking for hot items in addition to the usual pastries and cereal setup? Do you want onsite restaraunts and/or room service available to you? How much are you willing to pay per night?

Once you have weighed the answers to these questions, I would encourage you to come back to the board with the criteria that are most important to you and then ask others for what hotels meet your needs.

Oh, and BTW...:welcome: to the Disneyland Disboards!!!

I kind of agree here. I know it seems like a lot to think about, but those are all things to consider.

We go commando, and usually never stop to break in the hotel room. We have never had a regret that we did not stay onsite. Most of the Harbor hotels (including CCI) are so close that you are often just as close, if not closer, in walking distance to some of them than you are the onsite hotels. It is just a different direction to walk.

I would much prefer to save the money and stay somewhere a little more affordable and use that money on a nicer meal/upgrade to tickets/more souvenirs/etc.

But that is really up to you.... :thumbsup2

Thanks for the welcome!! I have been reading for a while but finally signed up.

We are not park commandos because we have health issues that can not let us go go go all day. We will either go in the morning until dinner time, or go mid day until evening.

I guess what I would like is the nicer hotel at a lower cost, I know, I'm crazy LOL

I have a reservation at the DLH but Candy Cane is just soooooooooooooo much cheaper. I just can't decide what to do.

Well, CCI is on the same side of the street so you wouldn't have to cross Harbor which is good. And they do have their own designated shuttle that you could use if needed. So maybe that is the choice for you.

No one will criticize you for wanting to save a little money and stay somewhere less expensive. Like I said, save the money and treat yourself to a nice meal instead! :goodvibes

I am actually thinking a split might be good, because we want to see a little of Los Angeles/Hollywood too. Maybe do DL for 3 nights and the other 4 nights at a less expensive place while we are sightseeing.

Decisions Decisions!
