I really really want to go back to disney during December. I've never been at Christmas! Everything I'm reading says it's already filling up. Should I go ahead and make a ressie then cancel if a free dining or discount deal pops up?

Can't you make a reservation and then if free dining comes up, call and get it added? We went first week of December and had nice weather. Had free dining too.

Could I really do that? What if they do a room discount instead? Would they modify my ressie to include the discounts?

I would book... but don't add travel insurance. If a promo comes up or you get a pin... it can always be applied...or you can change dates. I think the only thing that complicates things is if you try and cancel and have travel insurance. Course.. I think then it is only that you don't get that part refunded.

I booked my December trip right after Christmas. I had a pin that gave 40% off deluxe rooms.. and WL doesn't have a ton of standard rooms. I am sure they fill up fast (if they haven't already) I figured it would be best to book asap..and if a better discount came out I would apply it. I ended up changing my dates... and so I am still watching for a good promo to apply to the added days. You better believe if I see one come through I will be on the phone modifying my reservation.

We did that last year for our Sept trip. We made a ressie and then a free dining pin came out and we aplied it. I would DEF book now and then cross your fingers for a pin. They only block out so many rooms per resort for the pins, so as soon as it comes out I would call. We wanted to extend our stay a day in either direction with the free dining (since we were saving money on the total say) but they didn;t have that many nights available to us at the resort of our choice. All in all we kept the original dates and saved money, and just didn't stay the extra days.

I booked for December with the 40% discount. Now if free dining comes up I call and ask if it saves me more and if it does and there is availability they change the ressie and apply the code. Book now!

If you are going whether you get any promo or not then I say book and be set if it makes you feel more secure. Keep in mind the more we all hold out the better the chance will be to get a discount later from Disney. When it was harder to book like before website booking I could understand getting in early; so, you didn't have the two hour wait when calling the call center, but that's not true anymore.

If you will cancel without a promo you are hurting yourself getting a promotion later and hurting everyone else who wants one, too. It's simple arithmetic with Disney basing their promos on bookings and certain percentages of booked packages based on certain dates like 120 days out and 90 days out and so forth. They expect a certain level of bookings at these times. If it's low numbers, Disney offers incentives.

If you book a reservation now you pump the numbers up; so, Disney may not do offers or they will do reduced offers.

If your reservation is so specific that you need to do it now then that's the choice you make.
