We will be there Dec 18-25 and I have ???.

Will Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party still be going on? It looks like this last year the last date was Dec 19th.
Why don't they offer this up until Christmas?
Do they have something else instead the week before Christmas?

When will they announce the dates and have tickets for sale?

(Nov. 30, Dec. 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 19) based on 2003
This is what was on the home page here.

How far ahead does anyone think is necesary to book?

Based on historical patterns, I believe that the last MVMCP for 2004 will most likely be Friday, 12/17/04

MVMCP has been offered on selected nights (usually Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) in early December when the parks close early. The parks are open later/longer hours (to handle the larger crowds) for the Holiday weeks. You will be able to see the special Holiday shows and Christmas parade during "normal" MK park hours while you are there.

IIRC, the dates are announced/tickets are offered for sale sometime in the late spring/early summer. Keep an eye on the Theme Parks Forum - the news will appear there almost as soon as Disney releases the info.

Best wishes -

CarolMN is right. They have the MVMCP nights early in the month because the parks close early and the crowds are fewer. During Xmas week all the stuff you would normally see at MVMCP is being shown during regular MK hours, which are longer.

MVMCP tix have been on sale the last week of April for the past two years. Typically the Friday nights sell out faster than any other night because the locals come out for that.

Once I figure out what day we are going I always just order mine and get it over with. Some people like to wait. I have my choices narrowed to 2 days so I just have to pick one and be ready for tickets to go on sale.

Thanks all for the info. This is a regular Minnesota thread going here. We just moved from Plymouth, MN to Iowa so I still like to claim I'm a Minnesotan - lived there all my life except the last 5 months.

Do they do the snow on Main Street on nights other than MVMCP?

Not sure as I have never been in WDW past Dec 15. That might be a question for you to pose on the Theme Parks board.

I thought they only did it on MVMCP nights and maybe Christmas Day. I am going to assume the dates I posted are correct. I will probably be reserving tuesday the 7th, because I heard Tuesdays are usually the least crowded MVMCP events.

We were there the week of Christmas this past year and every night they had snow falling on Main Street for the couple of days before Christmas up through New Year's.

dianeschlicht heard Tuesdays are least crowded....does anyone know about Sunday? We arrive via Amtrak Sunday December 5 and we were thinking about doing MVMCP that night and parks the next 4 days so we don't waste any time (we check out on Friday AM).

IMHO, it's a toss up between Tuesdays and Sundays as far as crowd level goes. We attended this past 12/7 (a Sunday) and it was delightfully uncrowded.

That said, you really can't predict how crowded these events will be. It is true that Friday nights tend to sell out the quickest and that is why people say they are the most crowded. It is possible that any (or all) of the nights will sell out. (It's happened in the past). If the night you pick is sold out, it doesn't matter which day of the week it is - the party will feel crowded. Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays do not always sell out, though, so those are your best "bets".

You can wait quite a while to buy tickets - even Fridays don't tend to sell out until sometime in November at the earliest. Some prefer to take a chance and wait until they arrive so they can avoid any potential bad weather. Heavy rain did spoil a party or two the year before last, but that is the exception rather than the rule. December is one of the drier months for Florida.

FWIW, I think MVMCP is fun even if it is crowded! We usually concentrate on the shows, parade and fireworks. Any rides are a bonus as far as we are concerned.

Enjoy the planning - it really is part of the fun!

We were there on the opening night in 2003, which was Sunday, and it was pretty dead. We've been on other nights too, I just can't remember from years past what those nights were. Its never really that crowded though. Definitely worth the extra ticket cost!
