Planning for 2013 Already...

Well, we are about 98% certain that we will be returning "home" to HHI for Spring Break 2013. By that time, my dad will be retired and I would like to invite my parents to join us.

We bought a 50-pt contract for our family, planning on 5 nights in a 1BR every three years in April. If we want to bring along my parents, a 2BR would require another 7 points so we could only book 4 nights on points at 11 months.

We'd arrive ON Easter Sunday, so the 11-month window could be critical. Here's where it gets complicated...Easter is March 31. The cash rate for March 31 vs. April anything (for 2012) is about $150 different. We could book the first night (Sunday) at the cash rate and then call the next day to book the last 4 on points...but what are the odds that we'll get shut out by the people that called the day before to book Easter week? The other option would be to book the first 4 nights on points and then call back at the 7 month window and hope to add the last night using the one-time purchase points.

I know that it is still a long ways off but I save in small increments and I'd like a ballpark figure to shoot for.

Why not venture over to the rental board and see if you can find someone who would transfer some HHI points to you. You have the lead time for it.

I'm in a similar situation with at BLT and want to suprise my wife with a 1 Bed MK room for our 25th anniversary. I've already calculated what I need based on use year (and how I will need to bank them or not).

Sure it's a little work but I like working the different possibilities especially when it comes to a trip to DW.

I'm in a similar situation with at BLT and want to suprise my wife with a 1 Bed MK room for our 25th anniversary. I've already calculated what I need based on use year (and how I will need to bank them or not).

Sure it's a little work but I like working the different possibilities especially when it comes to a trip to DW.

A good idea...I hadn't thought about that...but I *might* want to do another F&W trip (sans the DH and kids) in 2013 and I want to keep my transfer available for that possibility.

then see if you could rent just one night from someone (they would make the reservation). you can link the 2 reservations so you would not have to change rooms.
