Planning around Disney Hosted Competitions/Events

In the past my family and I have went to Disney World and have noticed times where it appeared extra busy with youth sports teams occupying resorts and parks. We presumptively associated this with a tournament or competition either at ESPNs WWofS or in the Orlando area.

Its easy to plan around official Disney events like the marathons that just occurred to avoid the influx of extra guest by utilizing Disney Event Calendars to know when they occur.

I have yet to find any information about non-Disney affiliated events being hosted by Disney that inherently makes the resorts and parks busier.

We have AP and go about once a month, perhaps for just a day sometimes up to 3 and have really enjoyed some slower times by the convenience our proximity affords us to be flexible on planning the days we attend anticipating slower times.

Just trying to add an extra facet to our planning algorithm in hopes to make each trip the best it can be.

Any information about these events would be great and much appreciated!

Thanks!

Thomas

This is just a "basic" timeframe:

Mid-January to early-May----Cheer/Dance/Twirl Season
January/February/July----The 15s Season
First week of December----Pop Warner Super Bowl

ESPN WWoS event calendar will show most events. :)

How does this affect the parks during the day? We are going the last weekend in April and I see it’s Nationals. I would think they would be busy most days, but not sure how it works. Are the kids in competitions during the day, so the parks aren’t too bad? Crowd calendars don’t have that weekend very high so I don’t know what to expect.

I'd read somewhere that it won't impact park levels much - the main issue is finding a hotel room since those book out so early.

My son's band is going in March. My friends daughter's band went last year over spring break. It seems like that is a good time for bands to be there. Both stay on-site. While my son will be in clinic at times, they are also going to the parks. Smaller groups than sports competition but still groups.

Thanks! Good to know! I already have a hotel booked, so we should be set. Didn’t even have a difficult time finding dining, even at 95 days out.
