Hello Dis Family,

I am planning our family trip for next May. I would like to make my ADRs but I am not sure how to proceed. I usually work around EMHs (avoiding them), but the calendar for May is not out yet. Is anyone planning a trip in May? How are you planning your ADRs?

Sux, doesn't it! There's a whole bunch of us May-ers waiting, waiting, waiting...:surfweb: It's really difficult to plan cuz you can't really make plans based on April hours (traditional, the May hours have been quite different from April. Easter week would have longer hours, but the rest of April is usually on the shorter hours for "slower" months. Then May would gradually increase hours...so the end of the month would usually have hours close to Summer busy-time hours. But who knows this year, with all the cuts on hours already showing?)

You do know you can't make your May ADRs yet...the rumor is they will open up ADRs until May 10 on December 1st. Are you going early May?

You are definately right about April hours being very different than May. I did not know that I could not make the ADRs yet. I guess I am just overly excited about going (got in on the 4/3 deal). I am not arriving until 5/17.

I'll just have to wait......:sad2: :sad2:

Thanks for the quick response!:thumbsup2

Ugh it sucks. I am a super anal planner and like to have as much done as possible and this is driving me crazy! I go the 11th...so the day after the rumored ADR openings end. On the other hand, its giving me a little bit more time to research restaurants and such since I booked on a spur of the moment idea.!

My suggestion would be to base your ADR's on the calendar for May 2008 which you should be able to find on-line.

From what I've observed over the years, the calendars for any given month or holiday period don't vary significantly from year to year.

I'm waiting also. We are arriving on the 24th. It looks like that isn't included in the new dates that may open up. One of my favorite things is doing our "plan" and picking the restaurants. This is making me crazy!

Another one anxiously awaiting the calendars!! We're going May 1-8, so we can **possibly** make our ADR's on Monday, well, the rest of them. I'm not too worried about actual hours - I based our plans on the May 2008 calendar for the most part. My biggest concern is Fantasmic and which nights it will be shown!! We're hoping for a Mama Melrose Fantasmic pkg. But if it won't be shown on a night we can be in HS, then we'll do HS 1/2 day (that's all we need there) in the AM and do an ADR somewhere better. Right now I have it down for Sunday, May 3rd, based on the April calendar. If there's not showing that night, it could throw off ADR's I make for other days that week. Hoping we'll get a pleasant surprise this weekend and those calendars will be up!

maybe there will be some pixie dust & when you try to book a Fantasmic package, the CM's will be able to tell you which nights you can do it...

We are going in May also. The only thing I have booked is Chef Mickey breakfast our last day. Well, it's the only thing I have been able to book! Even without the hours, I could probably book breakfasts and lunches-choosing park days based on the Unofficial Guide reccomendations (I mostly follow them every year). Dinners without the hours/firework/EMH nights would be the hardest to plan. :confused3 I can't believe the hours are not out yet. I mean, it's almost December! :scared: What are they waiting for???

Misery loves company.......glad I have you guys waiting with baited breath for the calendar just like me!!!:lmao:

When the calendar comes out, please post on this thread so you can put us out of our misery!!!

Thanks!

That would be great!! And of course, I'd be sure to report to the DIS right away!!!!

When I booked my vacation way back when the CM told me that I could make all my ADR's on Monday December 1st.. Our vacation dates are May 30 through June 6th..
Is this correct or not ????
I thought that the "new resevation" system was suppose to be up and running on Oct. 24th ???

Normally, that would be good advice, but I don't know if it works this year with all the cuts. I know the Jan calendar for '09 is significantly different from the calender for our Jan '08 trip.

I'm keeping my eyes peeled for the Pirate and Princess party. I would like to make ADRs around that. I think the calendars will definately be a bit different this year. I guess we''ll just have to wait.

Just got off the phone and of course the system is still not ready so no ADRs yet for May, he did tell me the calendar should be updated by this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Yeah right havent I been told that before, you know planning my first trip has turned in to more work than I thought :headache:

Supposed to and actual have turned out to be two completely different things. There is a sticky at the top of the Restaurant Board that is being updated with any and all current information. It is currently anticipated that the launch will be mid to late January. I am going almost the same dates you are, so I have made my CRT reservation and am waiting not so patiently for the rest. Below is a quote from page 1. :)

"You can make your reservations at any dining location that normally takes reservations at 180 days through March 22, 2009.

You can make reservations for Chef Mickey's, Cinderella's Royal Table and Victoria & Albert's at 180 days. (180 +10 Still applies for resort guests staying on-site)

You cannot currently make reservations past March 22, 2009."
