Hello:goodvibes
I don't mean to intrude on the UK boards as I normally am on the regular DIS trip planning board. I recently decided to plan a trip and get out of the U.S. for a little while and being that everyone on the DIS boards is usually so helpful, I thought this would be a good place to ask questions. My username is Wendy74 on the main DIS board. Anyway, enough with the long explanation. I'm 33 years old and the last time I took a trip that way I was 10...so it's been a little while. My sister was in the Air Force when we visited and stayed a couple of months with her and she was living in Newmarket. We were able to travel a good bit while we were there to Cambridge and London and a few other places that I can't remember anymore. I might be taking a solo trip so I was wondering if anyone could recommend someplace that would be good for a single traveler (and safe too). I appreciate any advice you can give! Thank you, Wendy

Hi Wendy,

I'm not sure if you're looking for suggestions of places to visit or hotels/places to stay, but Stratford-upon-Avon is a very pretty place to visit (and very popular with US visitors) and has always felt very safe to me.

I'm sure there'll be plenty of other suggestions coming your way soon :)

Yorks a really nice place and very popular with Tourists. I've always felt safe there.

Southampton is another place that is popular with tourists as it`s the port in which the titanic set sail from and also has many other places of interest but all depends on what you are interested in.

Thank you for the replies. I'm just trying to figure out some places to visit where I'd have fun...places to stay are good too. This will be the first time traveling by myself so far.

Our neck of the woods in "The Cotswolds" is always popular with tourists. Lots of chocolate box villages, lots of history, great pubs and restaurants. Nice and easy for Bath for all the sites there too.

Hope you have a great time

Tammy

There good and bad parts to every major city/area in the U.K (just like the US), I wouldnt get too worried there are lots of helpful people on here that can point you in the right direction!:)

Have you thought about going up to Edinburgh? Thats lovely:)

Edinburgh is actually one of the places that I remembered visiting when I was there so, yes I definitely think I would like to go back there again and Cambridge too. I was just trying to figure out if there was some place (and I'm sure there is) that I haven't thought of. I figured this would be the best place to come and ask for help:) Thanks so much everyone!

My list would include London, Cambridge, Oxford, Windsor and Bath. :goodvibes

I hope you have fun planning your trip.
