My Fiance and I want to take our six year old son away for the summer and figured that we would all love Disneyland Florida :) Only problem is that neither of us have ever been before and have no idea what there is to offer or what might appeal to our little monster ... We know that we want to be there for the entire month of July because of his summer holidays which I'm guessing will allow us to spread things out instead of having too much excitement at one time :) I'd love to make this trip special for him, little moments that he'll remember for ever but I'm not sure where to start plus we probably arn't going to be going back to Disney for many years afterwards because we usually spend our summers at home or with our families.

So basically I'm asking three seperate questions:
1. What will appeal to my six year old son in Orlando, Florida?
2. How do I even begin planning for this trip?
3. What can I do to make it special for him?

If you are going to go for a month a villa or a split stay with a villa and hotel might be better than a month in a hotel as I think you would get bored at the same hotel. If you can then August may be better than July as the American schools go back and so as the month goes on it will get quieter. For a 6 year you should do the whole of Disneyworld, there are 4 theme parks and 2 water parks which are all amazing. If he likes Harry Potter then the new section at Universal Islands of Adventure would be good, there are much bigger rides i.e coasters etc there so the rest of the park might not appeal so much. There is also Seaworld, fab beaches and loads of other places to visit. A good place to start would be to buy a trip planning book, Simon Veness Orlando Guide is excellent. :thumbsup2

Happy planning! Oh and once you have been you will be defintely be planning another trip, noone ever goes once! :goodvibes

What can I do to make it special for him?

Who are your son's favourite characters? we used that as a starting point for DD last year as a 3.5 yr old. A year later she still talks about meeting Woody, Buzz and Mary Poppins :)

Goofy and Donald were also favourites so we booked a character meal at Tusker House which she really enjoyed, and she also got to see Mickey and Daisy there too.

I have heard alot about high crowd levels in July but he wants to be home in time for his birthday party on August 4th so we're just going to have to bear it :) I understand what you're saying about staying in a villa and like the idea of him settling into it as a home much better so I wanted to ask where the best villas were.

My son's favorite characters are Aladdin, Buzz, Mickey, Peter Pan, Tarzan and Woody, Handy Manny, Lightning McQueen and Jack Sparrow :)

So here go my questions:
1. Where would I find a good 2 bedroomed villa with pool close to the parks?
2. What parks would I need to go to to find these characters?
