Planning a long weekend in Nashville...

After planning our honeymoon, I felt bad that my 11 year old son won't be going with us so we decided to go somewhere over the long Memorial Day weekend. I have looked at websites however, we don't want to go to just museums and things like that. Are there touristy places to go as well? Miniature golf, go-karts? We will have a 10 and 11 year old with us and want to make it a fun weekend.

We usually go to Gatlinburg, just looking for a different place within the same 6 hour drive from Ohio.

Or if anyone has any other ideas close by...

There are a lot of places around the Opryland hotel regarding the miniature golf and things. There really is a lot of fun stuff to do here. Also, when are you thinking about coming? A lot of Broadway series shows coming to TPAC.

We had a great time in Nashville - we went to the Grand Old Opry to see a show, they have a big outlet center near there, we went to the Hermitage and another plantation to tour. I am sure they have more kid friendly stuff. It is a great city - have fun and be sure to go to the pancake pantry to eat breakfast.

Gatlinburg is way cooler for a boy that age than Nashville!! We've been to
both and you just can't beat the attractions in Gatlinburg, as well as the
National Park, Clingman's Dome, hiking, falls, etc.....

I honestly can not think of much of anything to interest a 10/11 yr old boy in Nashville. We stay at the Opryland when we go and I feel he'd be even bored there. Nashville attracts an older crowd and I have not seen much to cater to kids, not on the Gatlingburg level. The Rainforest Cafe would be cool, but I am not sure if it's ever going to re-open since the Flood. He'd probably be bored with the Nashville-type tours, such as the Grand Old Opry, Plantation Houses.

And Nashville is not as attractrive scenery wise as Gatlinburg.

Just my opinion.

Some other areas to suggest would be Col. Williamsburg, Myrtle Beach, Lake Michigan Sand Dunes if they are within your driving distance.

Ok thats kinda what I thought. I am getting mixed reviews though. We are going to Myrtle Beach on our honeymoon 2 months earlier so thats out and a little far (12 hours) for a weekend trip. I'm leaning toward Gatlinburg, it's just at 6 hours away. Thanks!!!
