I posted this in the budget forum, and got fantastic replies. I figured I would see what advice would come from here...

All you Disney Guru's...may I pick your brain?

We are taking our twins to WDW for their 4th b-day in September or October, 2010. (their first trip...oldest ds's 2nd)
What can I do to plan ahead? Can I book, and make payments? Can you purchase park tickets in advance?
We can use my parents condo for free, but I am torn. Would it be easier with the kids to stay on site? (travel from condo is only about 20 min, but too far if someone needs a nap) Would they enjoy a Disney hotel more?

Sorry about all the questions. I just believe in being SUPER prepared...especially when traveling with young children.

We're planning on going in Nov of 2010 and I can't wait to start planning!! It will be our second trip and the first time we stayed off site but I really want to be on site this time.

Yes you can book, make payments and purchase park tickets in advance. In fact that is the best way to do in in my opinion. Not sure about your kids but I know mine do not want to stay anywhere else but on property. They really don't nap anymore (but their mom and I sure like to) but it is nice to just hop on the bus for a quick ride back to the hotel for a rest and swim in the middle of the day. On top of that you save the parking cost.

We are going back in September 2010 & I am already deciding what we will see & do.

We are planning our first trip for Dec 2010 and I have been OBSESSED since we made the decision. I(with minimal input frmo DH) have already made all of the plans(lodging, tickets, dining) and am just waiting for the dates to open up to make the reservations. The only thing I have left to do is plan out our daily itineraries and start gathering everything I plan on packing. I have a HUGE notebook(plus all the graphs and charts on PC) that I have been gathering info in. I've compared prices, checked on the best travel dates, looked into different ticket sellers, you name it. I am going all out for this trip.

I'm so glad I'm not alone! I want to go in June 2010 for our 15th wedding anniversary and just yesterday I started to piece it all together thinking, "man am I nuts." WOOHOOO! There's more of me!

My sister was teasing me about having WDW OCD. I keep trying to tell her that the wonderful people on this board keep saying to get organized and make sure all plans are in order. Well, a friend of ours just came back and DSis was talking with her about my new obsession. My friend looked at her and said she wishes she had taken a page from my book. They weren't prepared at all and if she has learned anything she is going to be planning at least a couple of years in advance for any future trips! Guess I'm not as crazy as I was beginning to think. WOOHOO for 2010ers!!!

2010 here too! Not sure of the dates yet, due to college schedules not being out (they need to hurry up) :lmao: but I am going on an adults only trip with my mom. We will celebrate my graduation from college and her 55th birthday, since she was born in 1955!! I am already looking at POP, where to eat, and which dining plan we need. DH says I am driving him crazy!! That's just cause he doesn't care fof WDW:scared1:

We are planning an April 2010 trip!! I have been planning this for awhile now because I graduate in Dec 2009 with my 2nd nursing degree so this is a graduation trip for me and a "thanks for putting up with my crankiness:rolleyes1 " trip for the rest of my family!;) I know we will be staying at POR(we're a family of 5), but I would love to see if we can swing a stay-even partial- at the Poly. But, I'm just happy to be going so I won't complain....too much;)
Happy planning everyone!!

I had the best time planning our trip this past May! We're going back in the spring of 2010 and I'm already thinking about it! I think it makes the trip better to have things mapped out.

I would try to stay on the property, it really was nice not to have a car. Have fun planning!

What a relief to know I'm not completely insane. We just went this past Oct. and had gone 2yrs prior in Oct. On our 2nd trip we decided to make this an every other year thing...(I would go every year if I could!) Stayed at POR...but never really did anything but sleep there - only used the pool once. Was a great place but I think we're going to stay at Pop this time. For all wondering, October is THE time to go!!!
