Hi, my husband and I along w. our 8yr old son are planning a trip to DW end of July. We will be camping in an RV and I've checked a few campgrounds out in the DW area. Can anyone recommend one over the other? I see that FW has transportation to the parks and that is a #1 thing for us as we will not be bringing a vehicle to tag along behind the RV this time.

I haven't been to DW for about 15 years, and I'm sure it's changed and gotten much bigger. I am thinking of purchasing the 4-day ticket. We want to be able to do more things outside of the theme parks and go to the beach, Seaworld, etc.

And what are the best sites at FW to pick for a 34 ft RV?

Thanks!

Fort Wilderness is, by far, the best campground around!!!! :thumbsup2 It's also a steal (price-wise) for staying on Disney property.

As far as sites go, you'll get dozens of differing opinions for the best loops. My family likes to stay in loops 300 or 700 best because they are preferred loops (meaning they have cable), pet loops (our yorkie and bassett come with us) and they are a short walk to the marina and Trail's End area!

Happy Camping!

Fort Wilderness is one of the highest rated campgrounds in the country. Besides, at Fort Wilderness, you're on Disney property, what's not to love :confused3

Hope you have a wonderful time planning and an awesome trip! :cool1:

By all means stay at Fort Wilderness! Transportation to the parks is great but can be slow at times. To get to the Magic Kingdom, take the short boat ride from the marina. To get to other parks, go to the bus stop near the Trail's End and catch whatever bus you need.

In a 34 foot RV you should be able to get onto most any site comfortably. We recently stayed in 1900 and very much disliked that loop. Have always liked the preferred loops.

If you haven't been to WDW in 15 years, you will be amazed at the changes. 4 days may not be enough time to see everything. At the end of July it will be very hot, and you may not want to spend afternoons in the parks. When we took the kids we always went into the parks very early, left around 1-2:00, and then returned at dinnertime when it was cooler.

Have a great trip!

As for me and mine it is DW all the way! Went for 10 awesome days in October (our longest trip yet) and never had a desire to leave the property. Orlando traffic is crazy and its not the safest city in the US either. Plus the more days you spend at DW the cheaper it gets, the cut off being 4-5 days, beyond that the cost is minimally more per day. If you can't find something to do between 4 major parks, 2 water parks, DTD, countless restaurants and other recreational activities then reevaluate your vacation philosophy. As for Sea World and that other "theme park", we have done those on previous visits before going to DW and I remember wishing the day would go faster so I could go see Mickey!

If you aren't bringing a car along, you want to stay at FW and nowhere else. We are also going in July and have already made our reservations - I'd suggest you do the same as soon as you can. We also requested the 300 loop based on advice from this board.

One thing you'll notice about the ticket prices - once you get a 3 or 4 day ticket, additional days are very cheap. So, if you are going to be there for a week, for example, a 7 day ticket will cost you little more than a 4 day ticket. Then you'll have the option to go into a park on any given day to see a show, a parade, have dinner, etc. We are going for 8 nights and I was originally only going to get a 4 or 5 day ticket because we want to spend time in the campground and doing other non-DW things. But, when I realized it was only a few dollars more to get tickets for the entire length of our stay, I decided to go ahead and do that. It should make for a much more relaxed trip not feeling like we have to push to do everything in just a few days.

Hi everyone, thank you all so much for your advice, I will definitely use it esp being our first time there in 15 yrs!!
