Plane trip TIPS for children/Toddlers??

Just breathe!

We decided to have one of us take "responcibility" of one on the way down and then swap for the return.

So one the way to Disney DS 2 was w/ DH on the way there. DS 10mo was w/ me. DS 10 months MODEL CITIZEN. Ended up sleeping for like 3/4 the trip. DS 2 Great for the 1st hr really interested then wanted to "play" DH had used up all our "bag of tricks" about 45 mins to landing. All in all it wasn't bad just tiring trying to entertain him. (bag of tricks consisited of playdoh, stickers, books, trains, etc)

So then cause I felt bad we swapped for ME and DS 2 fell asleep and DS 10 months was not wanting to sit for the entire 45 min ride.

Kay on the way back we swapped I had DS 2 and DH had DS 10 months. DS passed out and slept the ENTIRE way home he was passed out just as the plane lifted the landing gear and I had to WAKE him up after we had gotten our carry ons and everything LOL

DS 10months another story...DH made DS laugh by tickling him right after he ate.....and you guessed it he threw up all over DH during lift off so yea he couldn't really move....

The even more funny part of this story is that DH watched both kids on ME to MCO (they were really good) to insure I'd take DS (I was going to anyways but he took them so I went w/ it!)

Seriously just have lots of distractions we had a backpack full. AND BREATHE. More than likely you'll never see any of those people again :lmao:

I mean it wasn't that bad cause we are going back to disney in Sept and flying!

Any ideas on how to keep a 16 month old happy on a flight? I am not sure how into watching a movie or drawing she will be. I was thinking books but not sure that will last for 3 hours. Thanks!!

Any advice for a 14 month old?

Our flight will be around 7-8 hours total (including a layover). I'm hopefull he will sleep but I'm worried about keeping him entertained and how to help him if his ears start to bother him.

what about playdoh or like a couple of their fav small toys....My DS loves these keys and fake cell phone we have and they are small enough to throw in a carry on...

honestly - i have never been on a flight to orlando that has not included at least 1 (usually many) unhappy children. you have to expect it so don't worry too much about upsetting people.

that being said, i was terrified of being exactly that family on our 1st flight w/ dd who was 6mo at the time. she was an angel and i was actually proud to hear the other kids fussing because i knew my baby was so good! ;) (sorry others moms and dads on the flight!)

this time around will be another story entirely. dd will be 2.5 yrs and we will have ds who will be 6 mo. not terribly worried about ds - assuming he will sleep - but i am mildly concerned about dd. she is energetic and does not like to be restricted. she does well in the car though - so we're hoping the CARES harness will mimic the carseat enough that she will know she has to stay put. we'll be bringing movies, color wonder markers and paper, snacks, and probably a magna doodle. i really don't want to have a lot of little things to pick up (you know she will throw them somewhere) so i'm hoping less will be more.

worst case scenario, we have friends on the same flight and their dd and our dd will be able to play together if we are both desperate.
