Plan for Labor Day Weekend

It's been 5 really long years since my last trip (due to unexpected divorce and becoming a single mom) and I'm finally planning a trip with my new partner who is very limited on days off from work. I've always avoided holidays but it was the only way to add an extra day off for him. So we are planning to arrive on Saturday Sept. 3, spend the weekend at Universal (RPR) then check into Pop (omg there are skyliners now?!?) on Sunday afternoon and stay through Wednesday Sept. 7 with an early evening flight that night.

Soooo much has changed in the last 5 years so I've been doing a lot of research to catch up! What is really throwing me off at the moment is the park reservations so I'm looking for guidance and feedback on this. I've been several times so I have prioritized HS, MK, and AK. I'm a huge Star Wars fan so that is my top priority and second priority would be Pandora. (I will reserve EP for the next trip!).

Here is my plan and reasoning - MK on Monday (hoping the size of the park will help offset the crowd?), HS on Tuesday (didn't seem like a good idea to try to manage SW attractions on a holiday), and AK on Wednesday (since it is our short day). Please let me know if there is a better plan for this so that I can buy the tickets and make the reservations.

It will be me and BF along with my 13yo daughter. They are fairly easy and will go along with whatever I plan lol! I recognize that it will be HOT and crowded but I am just excited to finally make it back despite these challenges!

Thank you so much for any assistance!!

Your park sequence sounds fine to me, so I’d get tickets and book park reservations ASAP. I don’t think any days that weekend are booked up yet, but it doesn’t hurt to reserve your parks ASAP.
Then you need to read the first 7 posts of the Genie thread and start at the end to follow it. It’s the best place to learn about managing Genie+ LLs and ILL$.

Thank you! I have been listening to various podcasts about Genie+, it sounds very interesting. I'm sure it will be different even by the time we travel!

i've gone a few times during Labor Day week...Monday morning will start off busy but as the day progresses the crowds get lighter & lighter. On Tues & Wed after Labor Day the parks were empty with only the most popular rides having lines, most rides were walk on. It's a great week to go, everyone has just gone back to school but it's also usually very hot, very humid and it's the rainy season so be prepared

I am planning for that weekend as well starting Sunday . I was going to hold off on purchasing tickets for a while because my DH wants to make sure masks won’t make a comeback. I don’t think they will but he is adamant that he does not want to walk around the parks in a mask. Do we really need to worry about parks selling out?
