Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

Note about Standby waits
- Average LL wait is 20 minutes or less once scanned. If there is a line to scan in, it is usually 5 minutes or less.
- Disney usually inflates Standby wait times by 5-10 minutes sometimes more.
- My rule is if the Standby wait is showing a 30 minute wait or less, it is usually best to wait in Standby and save or modify the LL I have.

Would you mind sharing the tips for Toy Story Mania?
Per Robo, who was a true Disney genius:

“Hold the cord/bauble between your index and middle finger, in the last knuckle (near to your fingernail.)
Face your palm toward your face, and make very quick "COME HERE" gestures to pull the cord.

You can fire very fast with very little fatigue.”

Did Robo pass? I've wondered about Robo for a while now. Was always such an amazing resource of info. I particularly remember maps... guidance on paths to take, places to sit for shows, etc.

If I’m planning on starting the day in MK and hopping to Epcot in the evening, at what point can I select LL for Epcot?

After I tap into LL in MK?
Or do I have to physically enter Epcot to choose LL there?

Is your trip the 6th and 7th? If so, there was already no availability even before 7 AM according to these:

The 8th still has some availability at the moment.

After you tap into your first LLMP at MK, you can select a new LLMP at any park (assuming you have park hopper ticket) and you can modify your other two LLMP.

Oh, it’s better than that at WDW. Wait times in the evenings are intentionally inflated, often up to 4x the actual wait, to discourage late riders.

They then use a process known as “Line Stacking” to steer guest away from the attractions and toward the gift shops and eventually the exits. It works very well.

We first learned about this in the 1997 Unofficial Guide and have been using it to our advantage ever since.

LLMP Data report for Epcot Day 7/30 which Touring Plans reports was a 4/10 crowd day:

Again, group of 21, staying together. To be honest, the crowds were the most manageable we've experienced during the trip. We were quite efficient, and even with our crazy group, we probably did not need to buy LLMP today. This is the first time I felt we could have gotten by without it. BUT only because we rope-dropped.

At 7AM we pulled a boarding group (45) for Guardians with an approx 11AM return time.

Rope-dropped Remy (we were near the front of the pack at International Gateway, so rode walk-on) They let us in a few minutes past 8:30 early entry.

Next made the long walk across the showcase to Frozen to see if we could catch that, too (even though we had pre-booked Frozen for later). We weren't super fast. Group has young children and my 71 & 75 year old parents. It was more of a stroll. We arrived at 9AM, just before the regular entry rope droppers. Posted wait was 15 minutes, but it was about 7 minutes.

Quick bathroom/pastry break and we headed to tap into pre-selected Mission Space at 9:45 AM. (Wait time was posted at 15, so not like we needed the LL, but just tapped rather than modifying to unlock our next Tier 1 ride.) Remy was already sold out, so we selected #4 Soarin for 7:15pm, although we could have had almost any time we wanted.

Took a quick A/C break at Club Cool and got sugared up with free drink samples and introduced everyone to Beverly 😂(IYKYK).

Next rode our prebooked Spaceship Earth at about 10:45 AM. Posted wait was 25, which looked pretty accurate. We breezed on. (LL are definitely a lot faster now). Selected our next #5 for Living with the Land in for 8:00pm. There was lots of availability, although a little scarcer in the evening times.

By this time our boarding group for Guardians was called (FUN RIDE, BTW!) We didn't wait long at all. Thought that by the time we were done, we could go to our 1:30 ADR, but still had time to kill, so I modified LWTL to an immediate return time.

We tapped into LWTL around 12:10. (Posted wait 20.) Didn't even bother selecting another ride, as most of what's left are walk-ons anyway.

We still had time, so jumped to Figment. It was 15 minutes posted, and it would have taken me longer to pull out my phone and mess with a LL if there was an immediate one, so I just sent everyone into standby. It took about 5 minutes, but I knew we were still killing time.

With Figment done, we checked into ADR at Space 220 at 1:20. Got done by 2:45. Back to hotel for break/nap.

We were going to go back at 6:30 to ride our prebooked Frozen LL, but it started pouring cats and dogs sideways rain and massive lightning/thunder, so they closed the Skyliner. We waited until 7:10 when it was just drizzling and had to wait for & take a bus to Epcot with the Skyliner down, so we finally arrived at 8:00pm, abandoned our expired LL for Frozen (thank goodness we rode during rope drop) and went directly to Soarin. We tapped in, but didn't even need it at a 5 minute wait. Then decided we had just enough time to hit Tres Caballeros before the Symphony of Us show (which was sad without fireworks due to the rain.) Wish we'd had another hour in the park, but with the heat, it's just exhausting without an afternoon break. The Skyliner debacle cost us about 90 minutes.

At least they got the Skyliner running for park close and we got back to Caribbean Beach quickly.

Although we definitely didn't need it today, purchasing MPLL gave me confidence while planning that we could ride all we wanted to, (but really didn't turn out to be necessary.) However, if Remy had been offline at park open, we would have had to wait standby another time. Even if going in at Intl Gateway, which is an easy rope drop for Remy, as I learned yesterday, rope drop is not a guarantee. (And as I learned today, even a LL is not a guarantee if you can't make it back.) Anyway, I suggest picking Remy as your Tier 1 and trying to score Frozen as 2nd Tier 1 pick. There are plenty of Tier 2 rides you can choose that will have early return windows to get your ball rolling before Frozen sells out.

Our crazy big group is going home tomorrow, so that's my last report, but I'm happy to answer any questions.

Hope this was helpful!!! I'll probably do a sum-up of what I learned after we get home.

Question about Multi experience pass...

Assuming I get a LLMP for Tiana and the ride goes down. I will get a notification and a multi experience pass.

1. Do I also get to pick a replacement LLMP? Meaning I'll be holding 4 rides?
2. The multi experience pass...I can wait for Tiana to come back up and just go to it whenever it comes back up? And the other option is to go to any of the options listed, even if I already used a LLMP there?

I have 3 MK days planned, days 3,5, 8 of my trip and I was planning to pick Tiana each of these days, but it's going down so often, I've been wondering if I should pick a different tier 1 for at least one day.

I'd say go ahead and try for Tiana every day. I can't be sure how it is supposed to work, since it glitched on me, but no other ride is completely sold out at park open, so you always have the option of modifying a future day to a different ride if you actually get to ride Tiana at your first opportunity and want to switch it up. My understanding is that you should get a return anytime pass for Tiana if they expect it to reopen, plus choose your next LL ride. If Tiana is not going to reopen, they'll give you a multi-pass ride and let you choose your next LL. That's my understanding from the CM who fixed my passes after the glitch we experienced.

Thank you sooo much! Did you do EE every day and if so, what time did you get to the Skyliner? We are staying at CB in September. There’s only 3 adults though 😂

1. Yes
2. Yes to use on TIana. According to multiple reports the options listed aren't accurate. The blue umbrella Cast Member are saying only tiers 2 attractions are supposed to be used as replacement which doesn't make any sense to me since Tiana is THE tier 1 attraction in MK.

We did EE every day and (except for Magic Kingdom day when all the rides were broken) it was some of the best time in the park. Skyliner is supposed to open 2 hours before park open time, but sometimes started a bit early. We were super close to the Riviera Skyliner, but an easy walk to the CB one on the other end of the resort for our DHS day. (Saves time if you just get on there you don't have to get off and on again).

We were in Aruba building 52, and it was ideal. We got on the bus at the Jamaica stop which is a first stop during early AM busses, so always an empty bus. They're also supposed to start 2 hours before park open, but sometimes came earlier.

If you arrive at the skyliner by 2 hours prior to park open or bus stop 2 hours 10 minutes before park open, you'll be primed to be at the front of the rope drop pack. This is especially useful at DHS where they often let you in before the EE hours start. We had ridden RotR and were getting in line for MFSR before official 8:30 EE.

Yes, the Tier 2 things seems accurate. I did talk to a woman while waiting for rope drop yesterday. She had got stuck for 30 minutes baking in the sun on the ramp for Kali River because a kid in another raft refused to sit down and shut the ride down.

They all had to evacuate the ride, did not get to ride it, but were given a multi-pass for each remaining day of their trip as compensation. She said she was shocked that the multipasses only included Tier 2 rides. 😬

The Blue Umbrella Cast Members aka the Guest Experience Team (GET) CMs are correct. Tiana is one of 5 Tier 1 rides and if thousands of Guests are redirected to the other Tier 1 attractions it would be chaos in the LL queue.

Choose up to one experience from this group:
When you get a Multi Experience Pass Redemption for a down attraction double check the details listed. And most important it also provides you a replacement Open LLMP to select since Tiana or the attraction that is down.

This is super helpful, ty! I have requested that building.

My $0.02.

If Tiana went down, and I had a MPLL turn into a ME pass, I don't care if I have to wait a little longer for another Tier 1 ride. You are taking a subset from the queue of 1 attraction (Tiana) and dividing it between FOUR other Tier 1's. I don't see it as chaos. A Tier 1 should be replaced with another Tier 1, especially for the example of Tiana.

Right. For more than a decade with every version of Fastpass, MaxPass, and Genie+ across the parks, if an attraction went down, you'd get a multiple experience pass that would _at least_ give you no less than what you had just lost. I can't believe they're intentionally changing that now.

I won’t type too detailed of a post because I’m still tired lol. Ds (4) and I used LLMP yesterday at MK. We had Pooh, Tiana’s, and Pirates as our pre booked rides. We had a fantastic day!

Rope dropped Barnstormer x2
Dumbo
Tea cups
LL for Pooh (which was actually great because 7DMT was closed and Pooh was 40 minutes)
Booked BTMR for 10:40 am
Philharmagic
Little Mermaid
Carousel
LL for BTMR
Booked HM for 8 pm
LL for Tiana’s
Booked Buzz for 7:15 pm
LL for pirates
Booked Speedway for 6:35 pm
Peoplemover
Carousel of Progress

At this point we went back to the hotel for an afternoon nap and swim. We went back to the park around 7 pm.

LL for Speedway
LL for Buzz
LL for HM
Small world
Thunder Mountain x5
So, I see this as you rope dropped to do a bunch of rides that usually have no waits, then most of your "extra" LLs were for rides that wouldn't have had much wait late in the day, especially in low summer season.

So LLMP boils down to if you get lucky to get the newest ride in the park.

I'm still stunned that Disney has pulled this switcharoo with a watered down version of FP+, and most folks think it's great.
