Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

We are also arriving on the 27th, but from Canada. The morning of the 24th should be interesting. We shall see if I get to book “ 3 days in advance”. Or have to wait until we arrive at MCO. Stay tuned…

I’m guessing g that APs with an onsite stay will be able to book 7-days prior?
That's what the information from Disney indicates for APs. The resort stay does not appear to override the requirement to make a Park reservation for each day. The only exception would be for Good to Go days for APs.
It looks like the resort reservation will take priority over the ticket type. Obviously we’ll have confirmation soon though.
I am with @gottalovepluto that's what most of us have assumed at this point until July 24th.

I wonder if there will be a way to pre-select your party, park, & top attractions like you currently can in Genie+ plan my day...
It would seem that we will be able to use the same feature:

Gather your group’s wish list for attractions and experiences. You can save your group’s top picks in the My Disney Experience app using the “My Day” feature.

Ah! You're right, Dave. I forgot about that. I have already set things up, so I was worried that my preferences might not carry to the new system. Hopefully they do, and if not I can redo them as soon as the app switches over. Hope we'll see the new interface at midnight and not just at 7am. 😳

The MDE app updated today by the way (Android anyway) so presumably you'll need to make sure you've got the newly updated version installed before the 24th for it to work.
The iPhone MDE app was updated to version 8.0 on Thursday July 18th. There is now a reference to the Changes coming to Lightning Lanes with a link to open a browser window to https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/lightning-lane-passes

This appears to be the production code base with LLMP and LLSP functionality. However check back before July 24th to confirm that a point release (with patches/updates) is not available to update version 8.0.

Note: General users can't preview the new functionality at this time...

ETA: added text with additional detail...

Does anyone know if there is a limit to the number of people in your party that can be on one account for the new LL system (multipass)? We are traveling with 15 people and would prefer to keep everyone together and not have multiple people jockeying for the same ride around the same time just so we can be together.

So pricing is still variable based upon the park? Are we sure they are going to allow you to use this for a hopper to book at a second park? IF so, starting at Animal Kingdom and then hopping to Magic Kingdom is about to get a whole lot more popular….
Yes. It says it on the info on their site.

Especially if we can modify 1-2 of our AK preselects to park #2 tier 1’s after using preselect #1.

I'm understanding a lot of the new upcoming LL system. I might have missed this one, but for example, if a family is staying off-site with Annual Passes, how does the system know to allow the family a 3-day head start on selecting either LL type? I don't see how the 'clock' starts on that scenario.

Tickets must have start dates, or if you have AP or certain types of undated tickets, you need a park reservation?

Yes it’s confirmed, but I think it will only drive sales up a bit more. I don’t think too many people will add park hopping out of the hope they can snag a 4th, 5th or even 6th MK LL. They have to be planning to go to AK anyway as they gotta check into LL1, unknown if LL2 or LL3 can be modified to another park but even if they can anything they’re snagging is leftovers by that time.

tbh. I would not stress out over LL availability for those first few days. Not only because we are in the summer lull, but literally everyone on this thread has an advantage over the average low info guest, just because we know it’s coming. Even if Disney rolled out all the marketing stops to educate the gp, y’all know good and well 95% of people at the parks will still have no idea it’s even a thing. When reservations were required for everyone, they did everything but beat people in the head with it, and they were still showing up with none and wondering why they couldn’t tap in at the gate.

Because the resort reservation is what matters most, not the ticket type. A linked onsite stay always trumps AP status. It works this way for ADRs, park pass reservations, etc. It worked that way for FP+ prebooking too. Though park passes are a bit quirky in that it’s the one thing where you have an actual separate link to click on as an AP with a resort stay. Otherwise as long as you have a linked onsite resort reservation, the system treats you as a resort guest automatically.

I think people are really overthinking this.

APs have to have park reservations

Right? That's a lot of rigamarole to save, what? $5? I don't think it will be a huge factor. I wouldn't adjust my plans and sacrifice first dibs on MK picks for that miniscule savings.
