Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

I guess that's one of the reasons why Disney has modified the system. While it is technically possible to do what you did with a bit of patience and "creatively" using the 2-hour loophole in Genie+ , clearly it was never their intention for guests to be walking into a park with six stacked pre-bookings.

Andre
I would think disney wouldn't mind. They got their money. The guest is using the booking in one block. Leaves the park .oo1 less busy during the day.

And although we never used genie +, with a feeling that we will be denied a DAS, I was reading up on the stacking plan. We could have booked and used a couple in the morning, take our long afternoon break and go back into the park with 2 or 3 rides ready to go.

I'm glad our trip is months out, enough time to figure out new system.

It really took no patience or creativity. I sat by the pool, was at my AM park, or was in my room and followed the 2 hour rule made by Disney and I rarely ever refreshed. I took what was available. This was also when you couldn’t book any after 2 pm unless they were available.

People will find a way to get creative with this new system. People are already mentioning booking tier 2 throwaway LLMP for their first two and trying to book another tier 1 LLMP as soon as they tap into the first LLMP at 9 am.

Those on the dis will always figure out a way to maximize these systems.

?? I don’t think using G+ exactly as advertised was some sort of loophole nor do I think that’s why things have changed. I think the changes are because people couldn’t get over the loss of planning and complained extensively. I also think a significant population of guests couldn’t grasp how G+ worked. With this system Disney can avoid refunds/complaints bc newbies will see exactly what they’re getting before paying.

Learning the most efficient method to use a service is not something I would call a loophole.

If it is I sure I hope I figure out the biggest loophole ever with LLMP.

I will be certain to read and watch every article and video on the subject from July 24 until August 3 so on the 4th I make an educated selection of my 3 rides.

Agree and agree. The 2-hr booking was a feature of the system people paid for, certainly not a loophole. And the changes coming now I think are mostly due to guest feedback and complaints about not being able to plan, and a lack of on-site guest 'perks'.

We're definitely planning to book together and then modify any we need to, although for the most part we'll be sticking together. You can only book 12 people max in a group, so we will have 2 of us booking for one day/park (11 & 11 for the same attractions) and the other two simultaneously doing the same for a different day/park. Probably DHS and MK first, (for SDD and TBA which are the fastest to sell out.) Then each tag-team will move to AK and EP. At least that's my plan. 🤪 Since it's a free-for-all for pre-booking on the 24th, rather than focus a strategy like booking your farthest day out first, I'm just going for hardest to get first. 🤷‍♀️ I hate having no data for how this is going to go. LOL. Let's just hope we don't get Stitch eating the page errors all morning when the whole world logs in at once. 😅
Your post has definitely gotten me thinking of my booking strategy! We are in a similar situation as we arrive July 26th through the 30th, so we will be up with everyone else at 7AM on the 24th. We were planning to have DHS be our first park to visit on the 26th, but are now considering moving this park to the 29th so maybe it will be "easier" to book our rides. I'd like others perspectives....would moving DHS to later in our trip make a difference in booking?

I'm sorry if this has been answered but I couldn't find it...

Did they say how this will work for APs staying onsite? Will we be able to book 7 days in advance and be able to "hop" if we do purchase it?

Seems like this should be a yes but I'm not sure since they still make us make park reservations even though we are onsite.
While they haven't explicitly mentioned Annual Passholders staying onsite, the Disneyworld website breaks things down into two categories: (1) Eligible Resort Hotel Guests and (2) All Other Guests. It then describes when All Other Guests book based on whether they have date-based tickets, other ticket types, or annual passholders. To me, that means if you are a Resort Hotel Guest, it doesn't matter if you have a ticket or an annual pass, you book at seven days before the first day of your resort stay.

I asked Plan Disney about split hotel stays and the new LLMP and LL system. Here's the answer that they gave me (I highlighted the answer that I was looking for):

Regarding the new Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass; how will this work if you are staying at multiple Disney Resorts during your vacation? Can I make the 7 day reservation period cover all of my resort stays or would they be separate reservations?”

Hey there Gary and welcome to planDisney, the most magical place on the internet to get specific answers about your Disney vacation planning dilemma. Split stays and Lightning Lane selections can make navigating the Lightning Lane a little like heffalumps and woozels...very confuzel. Here is what you need to know regarding both Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass.

  • Guests not staying at a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel or other select hotels may make Lightning Lane selections starting at 7:00 AM three (3) days before their first park day.
  • Guests staying in a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel or other select hotels may begin booking Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections starting at 7:00 AM seven (7) days before their check-in date for up to 14 days of their Resort stay.
  • Continuous Resort hotel split stays (no gaps between hotels), regardless of the number of qualifying hotel reservations, may purchase and book Lightning Lane selections for the entire length of their visit up to a maximum of 14 days.
  • If there is a break in the split stay, then Guests can plan up to seven days prior to each individual check-in day.
  • Guests must have valid theme park tickets and park reservations (if applicable) for all days they wish to purchase Lightning Lane selections.
  • Guests may purchase both Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass each day.
I am so glad you stopped by with this question and I hope your next trip to the "Place Where Dreams Come True" is the most magical adventure ever.

Gary, please feel free to write me back directly with any follow-up questions or for other Disney vacation planning tips.

Enjoy making many Magical Memories.

Woohoo! My new trench buddy! I had a thought this morning that made me feel better. As the system works right now, we have essentially every person going to that park logging on at the same time. On the 24th, a lot of people will be logged on at once, but their attention will be spread over everyone currently on property finishing their stay, as well as those staying between 24th and August 7. That's a lot of days for people to decide where to book first. I think we'll do okay.

I got through about 20 something pages and then skipped to the end so not sure if any of this has been mentioned already but he are a few thoughts!
G+ put on-site and off-site guests on a level playing field. I wonder if that hurt their resort bookings more than anticipated.
Also, with guests stacking and then showing up at the parks later in the day and riding rides back to back and then leaving, I wonder if that hurt food/merch sales more than anticipated.
Yes, G+ was confusing and having to worry about booking at 7:00am every day wasn’t ideal but it did work great for guests and being able to ride pretty much everything you wanted in 1 day. I am wondering if it was ultimately not as profitable overall and part of the reason for the change.

I agree with the others above that Disney probably didn't see this as a problem; after all people were simply taking spots that happened to be available at that time. Keep in mind, although these systems are being sold as time savers for park guests, the actual motivation behind Disney's implementation is, of course, money - you can't spend (on meals, souvenirs, etc) when you're standing in line. Free up those wallets!

Besides, who's to say you can't have six rides pre-booked with this system? Our first day on our upcoming trip I'll be trying for six for sure.

Ha! You are making me feel a little less anxious so thanks for that! Booking 7AM on the 24th is seeming quite daunting when considering the amount of people that will be doing the same thing at the same time. I am a super planner so I like to have every little detail planned. Having no data on how this will all work puts me in a position of being a guinea pig which is so anxiety producing to me! 😂

6 rides pre-booked in that you have 3 MPLL pre booked, 2 single pass LL’s pre booked, and a VQ? The VQ isn’t a LL and it’s not guaranteed. I’m not traveling with Daddy Warbucks so I don’t plan on buying the single passes every day. I might buy one for our family of 4 for our entire trip.

This is interesting... Will the system automatically recognize that you have a split stay to continue to allow you to make advance ride reservations for days during your second stay? Is this how Fast Pass worked for split stays? I never used that system but i have read from others that you used to have to call in to make dining reservations for split stays. I hope we don't have to call in to make ride reservations during the second half of a split stay.

While I would love to take Jason's reply as fact. Disney does not acknowledge the term "Split Stays". Disney does not allow this for the ADR 60 day booking window for "Split Stays" or was it allowed back in the days of FP+.

Just a reminder that the answers from the Plan Disney Panelists are not official Disney responses. Jason and all the panelists are independent contractors.

Yep, that's the plan. When I say "try" for six I am acknowledging the VQ is not a sure thing. But five for sure, on our first day.

After that? Like you, unless I find Daddy Warbucks hanging around looking to foot the bill for a family of strangers everything depends on the cost. Even if it's as low as our last trip ($15/day) I can't see us using it all that often - maybe even just one other day (we're there a week).

I really really hope this is true - would make things much easier. But it's odd the system would recognize split stays as continuous for Lightning Lane selections/purchase, but not for ADRs. Seems like often the most consistent thing about Disney planning is the inconsistency!

I wonder what Disney feels about split stays? Is it common or only common with DVC owners?
