Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

Yes since you have to enter a park and tap into any LL or let the LL expire before getting to look for day of Tier 1s. Tap into something dumb at 9:05am for the earliest chance at getting something good that day or at least let it expire and check at 10:05am. Either way better than waiting until afternoon!
If you watch the video Ear Scouts just put out on You Tube, he plays with a few scenarios - this was one. As someone else already responded, letting it expire doesn't work, at least not in the immediate timeframe he tested.

I am booking my passes tomorrow for Aug 20-25 (I added a day to specifically bump up our chances of getting a morning Tiana on our last day), and looking at the times that are available currently on Thrill Data for next week, I am irritated all around.

There are no morning times listed for Tiana or Slinky until the 4th day of our visit. How is that availability reasonable for midweek days during a week that almost every kid in the USA has gone back to school? Forget staying off site - obviously, that is disadvantaged to a ridiculous degree. But apparently, you have to be on site and for more than 4 days if you want to dictate your times without constant tinkering and modifying and praying to the Disney gods. I almost never do trips that are longer than 4 nights/3 days. And for sure, forget busier times of year.

I made my first WDW spreadsheet so I have in front of me what to book and in what order - and let me tell you, I have been going to Disney since the year after it opened and have never done anything like this. My alarm is set for 3:45 am (I live in the PST time zone). but I am beyond annoyed, which is never a good way to preface an alarm at that ungodly hour.

Our date based tickets begin Aug 19; are you booking or arriving Monday?

Rnrc. I ended up giving my band to husband. He tapped it off. No one cared.

The overflation of line times is crazy. Tower of terror at 1245 standby listed as 40 minutes. We walked all the way to pre show room. Twice.

I had no problem getting additional LLMP today at DHS. Started with Rnrc at 10:40, tsm and tot. So far got MMRR MF Slinky.
I am currently holding MMRR 405, slinky 420 and tsm 420

Still irritated in advance of tomorrow, but this at least gives me some hope....

I returned from my short visit (4 days) on wednesday. After using LLMP once, I don't think I'd buy it again for Animal Kingdom or DHS. It was a waste of money. I'm a rope drop person so was able to complete my fav rides during rope drop.

AK was kind of a wash because of the torrential rains from Hurricane Debby. But even w/o LLMP, the rain kept a lot of people away.
DHS - I rope-dropped ROTR and then walked onto TSMM. I'm not a slinky dog fan so didn't worry about it. I could have waited in the line for MMRR as the line wasn't long at all. Right now, DHS is very much a half day park for me. I only went from 8:30 - 11:30 (was working a half day in my room) and didn't feel the need to return afterward.

The inflated wait times seem to have gotten a bit ridiculous

FP+ was not exactly a cake walk for us West Coasters either as far as early mornings went. I have a distinct memory of throwing all my notes one morning I was so frustrated with the booking offerings (distinct memory because have you ever thrown pieces of paper? Its very unsatisfying lol, crumbled one up in a ball and tried again just to make it happen). Also with FP+ we didn't know until the moment of booking what we might get and I don't recall getting great stuff for the first few days of a trip either- like forget FOP or 7DMT early in a trip unless you were gaming the system with fake reservations you were going to cancel.

We've pretty much established availability is crap under the new program some time back and no indications of it changing so far. Only thing we can do is gripe to Disney so do make sure to drop them a note.

Have you had to be obsessively checking on your phone? (like checking your phone every 15-20 mins or more?)

Hate to tell you, but many kids on the east coast have not gone back to school. My state can't start school until August 26th and most schools in the North don't start for a while. You are trying for the most popular rides. You can just keep checking the app and trying to modify. At least you might be able to get those rides, I remember Slinky selling out in minutes with Genie+.

It does stink that you have to be up so early, I wish you luck. I had a good experience with it.

THANK You for the suggestion! That was a great video! I was cringing at watching the 30+ min youtube videos various bloggers keep putting out on the new system but this was definitely worth a lunch hour view!

I feel reasonably confident that next week is not going to be summer break high season at WDW ;). I know some schools don't go back until after Labor Day, but I think most are back or will be back imminently. I have been talked into this same week for the last 3 years, and it has always been low crowds (ish, you know what I mean 😄).

...but that isn't the point here. I am just grousing and don't expect anyone to solve it. I was not a fan of FP+ either, to be fair, and I don't mind throwing $ at Disney, but I am dubious about this. I fully intend to modify, as always.

I get up at 5 am every day anyways, but I really enjoy that last hour of Zzzzzs....

He has two videos that are very useful - and Molly from Mammoth Club also has a good one for hotel guests.

After reading everything that made it sound complicated and nerve wracking to plan ahead - I reached my 10 day mark. I never fall into the "need to be the 1st to book" nor do I worry if something isn't available. To be fair I go several times a year and rarely, if ever, ride any thrill rides/coasters.
I got on the app around 10:30AM Eastern - I had a list of where I'd made Annual Pass daily park reservations and just started out for my 3 reservations at that reserved park. Every thing was available - I could have scheduled individual rides and all of the popular ones. Granted - I'm 1 person, and had 10 days to choose from. WDW is my happy place and I just can't stress about what I can't or can experience. I was very happy :earsgirl:

When you say 10 day mark…what do you mean? You have a 10-day stay and are 7 days out from your first day?

It’s not high crowds for sure. But the whole northeast, including Ontario, schools don’t go back til last week in August or 1st week in September. Thats a big chunk of the country & more than just some schools.

It’s the weather, not the school calendar. The crowd shift away from summer to Fall Break Season was under way even pre-Covid. There isn’t going to be some magical surge of right before school trips this year that didn’t happen in the previous 2 years.
