Plan afternoon breaks, still take full day break?

If you schedule mid-day pool/nap breaks, is it necessary to have a full day break from the parks mid-week? We're travelling w/3 y.o., 6 and 7 y.o's.

It is really very much up to you. We never take afternoon breaks but we only plan a couple of evening events so we leave the parks for our evening meal and after about 1/2 the time. We still take a day break in the middle. However, the last couple of years, the break has turned into not so much break. 17 DD and I hit downtown and DH, DS 13 and DS 8 go to Gatorland.

My only suggestion would be have it 'planned' mid way but the day before, sort of bounce the idea off people. "Tomorrow we are going to stay and swim." If you get 'yippee', you have your answer.

I think it really depends on your family. We've been to WDW when our kids were 3 y/o and 1 y/o, and again when they were 4 y/o & 2 y/o. We always took mid-day breaks, but never took a full day off from the parks. They enjoyed the parks too much to skip a day. Some kids may need or prefer a day off for swimming or other activities, so maybe just wait and see what your kids want to do.

Have fun!

We can't seem to take a full day off either. We always go to a park at least a few hours a day even it its just first thing in the morning or late in the evening. But we have AP's so that works out well for us. I don't know if I would go to a park for just a few hours if I didn't have an AP or UPH. As long as you have an AP or UPH I don't see a reason to take a full day off from a park, just take breaks each day like you suggest and take it easy.

I think it depends on how many days you are going to be there and how much time you spend in the parks each day. We went to the parks 5 days in a row with afternoon breaks, but on the 4th day we came back in the early evening instead of staying at the park until close at 9 p.m. If we hadn't been leaving on the evening of the 5th day, it would have made for a nice non-park day but we still had a few things we wanted to get in at the parks. If you have plusses, you might want to think about a water park on the non-park day.
