To all my fellow planners out there, want to plan my vacation ?? I of course would love to go to disney, my other half though, will only entertain the idea if it's a really good deal.

Our first anniversary is on March 1 and we would like to go away for a week (or so). Our budget is $2000 - this should include hotel, transportation, tickets - if it's disney, but not food/drink/souvenirs.

Just the two of us. Traveling from central PA. So our airports of choice would be Baltimore, Harrisburg, Philly.
We are open to other destinations. There's just so many to choose from, it's hard to know where to start.

Thanks soooo much in advance !!

I think Disney is very do-able. March is a good time to go - before Easter but after Xmas.

SW has a $98 fare from Baltimore to Orlando right now. So $200.

7 day tix are $325 (650 total).

That leaves you another $1200 for lodging. Probably couldn't go Deluxe for that but maybe Mod there is a discount for that time of year (which there probably will be).

Actually, deluxe might be possible if they rent points from a DVC owner.

As previous poster stated a Mod like French Quarter is $198/night, the discounts haven't been released yet. But that's what I'd do as well. I wish we had the option of cheaper flights from airlines like jetblue or southwest. We don't here in Detroit. It's Spirit, and it's not that much cheaper or worth it really.
I think you should book it. Then just get apply a discount when it's released. My DH and I took a babymoon to Disney before having our 3rd child, and it was an amazing getaway. I wish I could do it every year.

First anniversary? I'd head to an all-inclusive in the Caribbean or in Mexico. Airfare is pretty affordable to those destinations and once you're there you won't have to open your wallet for anything else. I've found that the amount of time spent traveling isn't much longer than it takes to get to Disney from PA.

I love Disney, but I don't consider it to be a romantic destination. The first anniversary should be special and memorable. Save the Disney trip for a regular vacation instead.

Thx. We did Aruba all inclusive for our honeymoon. We knew we weren't lay on the beach all day kinda people but thought we should try it our for a honeymoon. While we loved it, not something we would do again.

I am open to other (non disney) ideas though. And very much appreciate your input. :)

This is close to home, so no flights needed. My DH and I rented a house there in September a few years ago on Keuka Lake (it is no longer up for rental but it was a spectacular house). We went on a chauffeured wine tour so drinking and driving wasn't an issue. Most houses have a fire place and come with some sort of water craft to use. Bully Hill winery is on Keuka lake, but all the wineries are delicious and Hammondsport is such a cute quaint little town.

Very nice, quiet and romantic. Plus most of the houses are absolutely gorgeous with their large porches over looking the lake. March is unpredictable weather wise, but even with the snow it will still be a romantic time.

You know, any Travel Agent would be happy to do this for you. Shouldn't be any cost to you.

No problem! I'm not a beach person, myself, but I have enjoyed our all-inclusive trips to the Caribbean. You just have to know what kind of things the place offers before you book. My sister spent 10 days in Costa Rica last year. She went ziplining, deep-sea fishing, snorkeling, hiking and explored caves. Oh, and she hit the beach every once in a while, too! ;)

How about Charleston, SC. very drive able.

Put in bay in Ohio, (not sure if they are open?)

Virginia beach, Va

Williamburgs, VA

Bed and breakfast in the country,

My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary in WDW. It was so much fun! It was more of a laid back trip. We went to a few signature restaurants, visited downtown Disney several times, rented bicycles and strolled the boardwalk. Yes, we managed to go to all of the parks too.
I think this would fit your budget based on pp advice. If you wanted to add some signature restaurants, maybe consider staying at a value. You can always upgrade if a deal comes out.

Consider a cruise, RCL is very, very nice and half the price of a Disney cruise.

Or for WDW, since your husband wants to keep costs down, look into an offsite condo. We leave for Orlando tomorrow. We rented a Bonnet Creek 3 bedroom unit for $499 for the week on eBay including all taxes and fees. A car rental was only $125, using Costco to book Alamo. Airfare is free from credit card points - Google "Flexperks". We will need to buy Disney tickets (might get annual passes!), some gas, parking, tolls, and food.
