Most of the resort room renovations in the past several years (Yacht Club, Beach Club Resort & Villas, Grand Floridian, Polynesian Resort, Boardwalk Villas, etc.) have served the purpose of making the guest rooms less colorful, less uniquely themed, less Disney. I thought it was just due to incompetence and lack of vision, & perhaps the misguided desire to compete with an upmarket hotel chain, but the idea that ruining those charming resort rooms could be purposeful is resonant and a bit chilling.Disney can create warm and inviting rooms with color ... on the walls, try stealing those. I think it's a discussion again because the POP renovation aka hospital bedrooms have taken sterility to a new level. White walls with brown laminate screams for color, and folks are asking about the runner. I think their decorator screwed this one...This may sound weird but the laminate furniture, all the cubbies, the bigger beds making the room tighter .... I see a large cruise ship cabin. I see Disney going this route in the future, less homey, more function, easier to clean furniture and bedding ..... and let's face it, the more time you spend in your room the less money you are spending.
Am I the only one that immediately takes off the runner and decorative pillows and throws them on the floor?
One less step for me....
I always take the pillows off , the runner usually stays but I wish they had a white washable duvet like other hotels .That's me too. Always take them off straight away.
For $300+ per night at a deluxe, my son has watched the "Safety Smart" cartoon repeatedly because no other cartoons were available in a Disney resort room...
