Plain white beds??

I like the plain white linen bedding. I think it looks crisp and clean. I have a tendency to like plain.

Disney can create warm and inviting rooms with color ... on the walls, try stealing those. I think it's a discussion again because the POP renovation aka hospital bedrooms have taken sterility to a new level. White walls with brown laminate screams for color, and folks are asking about the runner. I think their decorator screwed this one...This may sound weird but the laminate furniture, all the cubbies, the bigger beds making the room tighter .... I see a large cruise ship cabin. I see Disney going this route in the future, less homey, more function, easier to clean furniture and bedding ..... and let's face it, the more time you spend in your room the less money you are spending.
Most of the resort room renovations in the past several years (Yacht Club, Beach Club Resort & Villas, Grand Floridian, Polynesian Resort, Boardwalk Villas, etc.) have served the purpose of making the guest rooms less colorful, less uniquely themed, less Disney. I thought it was just due to incompetence and lack of vision, & perhaps the misguided desire to compete with an upmarket hotel chain, but the idea that ruining those charming resort rooms could be purposeful is resonant and a bit chilling.

It's like how you can't get a DVD player in a standard room, or any good Disney programming to watch on your resort tv. For $300+ per night at a deluxe, my son has watched the "Safety Smart" cartoon repeatedly because no other cartoons were available in a Disney resort room...

If this trend continues, in a few years they'll be limiting guest access to resort rooms to 10pm through 7am only. Taking an afternoon break at your resort room would be subject to an extra charge.

I think there's a fine line between looking modern, updated and upscale and being boring! I really do like the all white bedding scheme because you can see it's clean and so much better than the colorful bedspreads of my youth that didn't get washed between guests!! (Ewwwww!!!)

But maybe if they used a fluffier looking duvet? Something that looked more like a spread rather than just a top sheet? And I agree with the the idea of using color elsewhere like on upholstered items or on the walls or floors or drapes.

Oh well my degree is not in interior design! But it's fun to hear others comments and thoughts!

I like the all-white linens on the beds. I think it looks clean and crisp, whether it actually is or not (I hope it's clean.)

I mean, think about how germy those decorative pillows and runner are. Sitting on a bed and literally never cleaned. I shudder at the thought.

I am happy to see all of it gone.

People will say, "well the sofa is gross too!" Well, sure, but the sofa isn't sitting on the bed I'm supposed to be sleeping on. I can choose to avoid the sofa. I can't choose to avoid the germy pointless decorative stuff.

(Note: I am the person who disinfects all hard surfaces when I arrive in our room or villa .)

To each their own!

aww lol. They should have some kind of cartoon available in the room. That's just mean!

Had a look at the new Pop Century rooms. It looks like they're trying to re-create the feel of UO's Cabana Bay, just without any flair. Or color.

I don't think any hotel I've stayed at in the past 5 years has had a bedspread. It's not about making the room more generic, it's that most guests don't want the bedspread. I think if they used a colorful or patterns duvet or top sheet it would likely fade quickly being washed so often. White can be bleached clean over and over.
I actually like the runners! They bring color back to the bed and tie the room together without being gross.
I will admit though, we bring comforters from home to cover the beds because I have messy little kids and don't want them all over the sheets all day. We rent DVC points so we only get trash and towel service so I make sure to make and cover the bed each day so it stays nice and clean.

I've stayed at hotels with all white beds but they were Super nice and had fluffy comforters. Lol liked it so much I bought one for our bed at home.

Lol there should be a scanner in the room that won't allow people to put their nasty shoes on the bed in the first place.

Seriously I never sit on a bed without having first removed mine. Why the heck wouldn't you? You walk everywhere in those public Bathrooms where ahem some people might have missed. Of course we take our shoes off in our house or when we visit family (they all do the same)

I don't mind all white bedding if it's fluffy, soft and inviting but the renovated rooms at Pop Century makes the bedding look like it's none of those things it doesn't look soft, welcoming, luxurious (which I'm sure they weren't going for) but if the same type of bedding is used at the deluxe resorts then it should have somewhat of a luxurious/soft feeling to it. Overall the beds look like they are made up with just sheets (even if they aren't, I'm not sure I haven't seen them in person, that's just how it looks in photos to me), so they seem unfinished to what I'm used to seeing but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

I think what I'm missing the most in some of the renovated rooms is just some color, an accent wall, wallpaper, pictures on the wall, drapes, etc. something to give a little life to the space. I love color, prints, texture, etc. and to me that's often times what's missing. A room doesn't have to be over the top or anything like the original Disney resort rooms from many moons ago but there are so many great ways to add character to a space and still keeping it fun, modern, elegant, timeless, etc.

I like the cleanliness, but I do think the beds look half made. I appreciated the small touch of color the bed runners gave.

I would prefer they add their pop of color somewhere other than the bed like the curtains, headboard, couch, wall, light fixtures, and other furniture. I'm team hygiene over style.

I think it's a cleanliness/sanitary thing. You can't wash colored linens on hot with bleach. Begbugs are easy to spot on white. I walk past a hotel (not Disney tho) on my way to work and their laundry smells like they use a lot of bleach.
Not sure of the regulations for laundry, but it makes sense.

I prefer the clean white linens. i can easily see that its not stained or gross. I do wish there was more art on the walls but I am just fine with the plain white bedding.
