Places to eat outside Disneyland

I didn't see anyone mention all the new restaurants at the Garden Walk.

It is not far at all, and trust me, I HATE to walk. You could drive too, they do have a parking garage.

Bubba Gumps, PF Changs, Cheesecake Factory, and a few more places I know have opened up since we were there last.

Everything is open now I think, the bowling alley, the movie theater. We watched Dark Knight at their IMAX theater, very cool.

My niece took us there and we ate at PF Changs. It was so good@! I live n Northern Ct and we don;t have that here so I enjoyed it.

There is a Hawaiian fusian place there and a steak house. I would have loved to try the Hawaiian place but we wanted to take Kim wherever she wanted to eat and PF Changs won. The food was very good though.

My sister and I also spent a day at the shops in Orange and had lunch at the Corner Bakery. Salads and bread and soups were to die for. They wee well priced as well

Okay, so I had no idea that this was a chain. We used to go there sometimes when we lived in Aliso Viejo (I loved the crepes!) and I guess i figured that it really was the "original" pancake house. Unfortunately not one really close to where I live now but I may have to make a trip out to one of these. How convenient to have one right near DL!

Also, is there still a Tony Roma's near DL? :confused3 I think it was right there on Harbor. I never hear anyone talking about it so i figure either it isn't there anymore or it's not very good anymore. It was really good the last time I went but that was about 15 years ago. The tony roma's near our house was dirty and disgusting and eventually closed but I remember the one in anahiem being really good.

I heart pancake house. DH and I went there last year for our Sept. trip. The apple pancake is soooo good. I had no idea it was a chain. It literally looks like somebodies house that they made into a restaurant.

Just get a little protein to go with your apple pancake sugar!! It was really sweet, but ooohhhh so tasty.

YES....it is still there. We ate here in August. I swear they pipe out that BBQ smell so we were craving it BIG TIME. The ribs were awesome. Between the 3 adults, we should have split 2 plates. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and it was just blah in my opinion.

However, if you are eating offsite to save money, this isn't the place to go. We spent more eating here than we would have in the park.

PF CHANGS in my FAVORITE. We have one here locally, but I can never have enough. Their brocoli beef is the best I have ever had and I  their shrimp fried rice! YUMMMMY

Ah...this must be why I never see anyone talking about it.

honestly, it depends on how far away from the park you're willing to drive. even going just a couple of miles away you'll find the usual restaurants at normal prices. Honestly, even driving a few miles down Katella you'll find "normal priced" restaurants.

Well, I'm actually a local so I'm not necessarily looking for places outside the park to eat (if i want to eat at those types of places i would just eat near my house and skip the hour drive) but i was really just curious if the Tony Roma's was still there since it was so good last time i went. We might have to try it again sometime. Of course, i might also have to go to the Original Pancake House sometime now that i know it's there. Hmm... maybe i am looking for places to eat outside the park. Okay, now I'm hungry.

We are going in two weeks and staying at the DL Hotel. We splurged on the hotel but we want to budget our food money. We aren't renting a car so how far of a walk are some of these places? (PFChangs, Mimi's, BIGS, McDonalds, Millie's Baker's Square)

We want to plan ahead of where we want to eat so we aren't making the decisions on an empty stomach.

Thanks,

Betty

Mimi's, McDonald's, and Millie's are on Harbor Blvd opposite the Monorail track, i.e. pretty close to DL. PF Chang's, Bubba Gump, and Cheesecake Factory are on the Katella end of Gardenwalk, which is a bit aways from DLH. Here's a Wikimapia map to help you gauge distances. You'll need to zoom in one level for Mimi's etc to be identified, but Gardenwalk is at the lower right.

Millies, Mimi's, and McD's are on Harbor a very reasonable walk from the main entrance/crosswalk and shuttle bus drop off/pickup. Baker's Square is towards the other end of Harbor near the Hyatt and Crowne Plaza, as is Joe's Crab Shack, Red Robin, Outback, and Buca De Beppo. PFChangs is in the newly opened Garden Walk which is between Disney Way and Katella, a short walk from Harbor.

The best deal we found was the Cheesecake Factory at Garden Walk. Their bar happy hour menu, from 4:30-6:30, had decent sized salads for $2.95 and burger sliders or Cuban sandwiches for $3.95 for 3. There were about 15 items on the menu, including the fried mac and cheese, but we didn't partake of that delicacy.

McCormick and Schmicks has a decent happy hour bar menu...$1.95 for a half pound burger with fries as well as other items priced $5.00or below.

Are the happy hour deals only in the bar or also in the general restraunt? In CA, are children allowed in the bar section if eatting?

Bar only. Judging by Rainforest Cafe, families fill the bar area up when they don't want to wait for a regular table, so yes, children are allowed in the bar section. As far as the Cheesecake Factory, the bar area is a fairly large area with regular tables, high tables, as well as the bar.
