Places to Eat on the Boardwalk?

For our first evening in WDW I was thinking about heading down to the Boardwalk to walk around and possibly get dinner. Are there walk up places to get something to eat? What kind of food do they serve?

Also, are there any restaurants that would not require an ADR? I was just hoping to not be tied to a "schedule" our first evening.

There are plenty of places to eat in the Boardwalk area. If you want something quick there is a pizza window by Kouzzina's. The ESPN Club and Big River Brewery don't take ADRs. You can also walk around to the Beach Club and eat at Beaches & Cream without an ADR.

You may also be able to get into Kouzzina without an ADR.

ESPN is the most likely lace to walk in. If eating side is crowded, bar side has tables also, that unless is crowded with a game, is usually pretty tame. Food is good, and unless appetite is huge, suggest sharing.

ESPN and Beaches & Cream were my suggestions too. Shouldn't have a huge problem with either one.

We stay at boardwalk often, so this is a normal "arrival night" discussion.

Big River Grille has a great location and larger menu than the other walk-in opportunities, but of the five times we've been there:

We were wowed by the special offerings once,:thumbsup2
Had mediocre at best results twice, :worried: and
Completely regretted the decision to go there the other two times...

DW sides for the Beaches and Cream option... I think either that or ESPN would serve you well if you're not wanting to go into a park.

This time we're just going to walk the 8 extra minutes to head into the World Showcase entrance of Epcot and have dinner at Chefs De France... It will be too late to take in much of the park, but we'll have a great dinner.

espn club is wonderful. good food and if you go at nite they have a show and give away stuff ..tee shirts..glasses and such.

Some more Boardwalk area options:

  • Boardwalk Bakery has hot and cold panini sandwiches.
  • Walk (or take the boat) to YC/BC. You have a fair chance of a walk-up at the Captains Grille at YC, and an even better chance at Cape May at the BC.
  • Walk (or take the boat) to the Swan and Dophin. Many options over there -- from cafeteria to fine dining.

Other things to know --
-- ESPN Club will be insane if there is a big game on.
-- There's also "boardwalk" food available - corn dogs, cheese fries, cotton candy - although I don't recommend anyone make a dinner of all that.
-- Lots of outdoor seating on the Boardwalk to enjoy takeout options like the sandwiches and pizza.

unless there is a game, espn is best bet. there will be a wait at b&c.
